NEW MOON REPORT:
On Saturday, August 23, Virgo New Moon arrives at 12:06 AM MT/ 2:06 AM ET.
This New Moon is at the very first degree of Virgo. Virgo is ruled by Mercury, but we can also think of Virgo as the goddess Demeter-- emphasizing the need for new systems for our lives and finding updated paths of service. This New Moon has a hard aspect to Uranus, which emphasizes the need to innovate, to go against the grain . This New Moon is also the focal point of a special aspect pattern, called a Yod. Within this Yod, the collective energy of Neptune/Saturn and Pluto is funneled down to the New Moon (Sun + Moon). The impulse to clean the closet and reorganize your laptop seems to arise by second nature-- the transpersonal planets' influence has a compulsive quality. Or, the new path could arrive at this time through a dream, or a synchronicity.
This New Moon chart shows aspects related to intensity of feeling (Venus-Chiron) and frustration (Saturn-Mars). .And yet there is the Yod, pointing to the New Moon, suggesting that there is another potential route. Rebuilding living systems, reweaving living systems: in the midst of this challenging time, what if we help people to reconnect to themselves and others in nourishing ways-- Give some thought to reboots related to your diet and health, your meditation routine or sadhana (spiritual discipline), your day-to-day routine, work-life balance, the social systems of family, friends, mutual aid of neighbors and other human networks.
This really is a powerful time for new beginnings. Virgo New Beginnings. Consider well what will make your life more sustainable, set each day on the right track. I love that REI's annual sale corresponds with Virgo New Moon, since its products are so eminently practical. There are many moon cycles ahead that will test our equanimity and mind/body. This New Moon is giving us a chance to recalibrate our life before Eclipse season arrives, with the Blood Moon September 7th and the Autumn Equinox Eclipse New Moon on September 21. Give yourself the grace of these simple yet powerful ways of tending to the sacred space of your life.
