Even the most commonly suspected triggers (sleep quality, stress, tiredness/fatigue, sleep duration, dehydration, neck pain, missed meals, eyestrain, atmospheric pressure and anxiety) were statistically associated in less than a third of individuals suspecting each, with the exception of neck pain.

Uneasy stomach when you are feeling anxious? Meet the gut-brain axis. The communication network that connects your gut and brain. There are approximately 100 billion neurons in the human brain and your gut contains 500 million neurons, which are connected to your brain through nerves in your nervous system.

The vagus nerve is one of the biggest nerves connecting your gut and brain. It sends signals in both directions. Investigation suggests that the gut-brain axis might play a role in a lot of diseases including migraine.

In our last study 328 individuals chose their suspected triggers from a list of up to 38 - on average they selected 28 triggers. But we could prove that in reality, only an average of 2.2 triggers per individual were statistically associated with their increased risk of attacks.
