A study by the University of Florida’s Gardening Solutions notes that many children today experience increasingly sedentary lifestyles, partly due to more time spent indoors using electronic media. Without regular opportunities to explore nature and engage in physical activity, children may be more prone to developing health challenges that can persist into adulthood.
Research has shown that gardening helps fill this gap by inviting children to interact with the natural world… planting seeds, growing food, and observing the life around them! It also supports the development of fine motor skills as children use tools and handle seeds, while engaging the senses through the textures of leaves, the smell of fresh soil, and the colors of plants. Kids who participate in gardening programs are also more likely to try and enjoy fruits and vegetables they helped grow, while gaining real-life science knowledge by watching plants grow from seed to harvest.
During our Spring session, kiddos will get to design and plant the Creation Camp garden!! They’ll choose what to grow, get their hands in the soil, and learn how God designed seeds, soil, sunshine, and water to work together to bring life.
As the garden grows, our Summer session will begin using what was planted. Kiddos will harvest fresh ingredients, incorporating them into our daily cooking and experiencing the full cycle from seed to table!
Registration for our Spring Session is OPEN! Head to our website creationcampus.org to sign up!
