We are SOOO GRATEFUL for our nurses!!!
Nurses are the backbone of everything that happens at Hospice and we have some of the best. ❤️
Our nurses are knowledgeable. They care for the body. They know about symptoms, medications and nutrition. They know how to assess a patient even when that patient may be sleeping or combative.
Our nurses are relational and caring. They are empathetic and good listeners. They enter into the care-giving environment—building trust and forming relationships with the patient and family.
Our nurses work as a team. They communicate with each other and work collaboratively with other disciplines. They are often the ones who call in spiritual care, social work or bereavement.
Our nurses are meticulous and organized. Everything they do has to be recorded—for accountability and so the next person visiting the patient knows what’s going on.
Our nurses are present. If they hear that a patient is struggling or close to the end of life, they’ll be there--in all kinds of weather, any time of the day or night.
Hospice nurses watch the decline of patients. They work with the funeral homes. They get close to a patient and their family and then they say goodbye— over and over.
Thank a hospice nurse. This is a hard job. And our nurses are amazing at it. ❤️
