I had an absolute blast keeping the tennis pros moving and recovering this weekend. Thank you Mitchell County Tennis Association for the invite and I can't wait until next year. It's always an honor to serve our community. I love the pros and seeing our community come together, having fun and being united on something. Truly beautiful.

It's time to get those CE's in again this year for license renewal. What are some areas of interest that you may have if you were to seek out massage therapy or if you are a frequent flyer and I do not currently offer something that you would recommend? 7 years in and the possibilities and learning never gets old.
Let me hear from you!

Welcome to Gen’Roots Wellness formerly known as Myo Health and Wellness. Please read why we chose the branding and the design. Nothing new about the hands working just bigger vision and fresh design. My amazingly talented daughter Kelsie Casey who’s also a current UGA art student created and designed my vision for the branding. I can’t thank you enough for your support over the years and I look forward to many more years of serving our community.

Enjoy! ❤️❤️

The prefix of Gen in science means
Being born, producing, coming to be-birth. The origin of the word Genos which means birth.

ROOTS (n)the part of a plant which attaches it to the ground or to a support, typically underground, conveying water and nourishment to the rest of the plant via numerous branches and fibers;
(n)the basic cause, source or origin

(v)cause to grow roots,
Establish deeply and firmly

The seven stones are placed from the crown to the root in the color they represent in the various energy areas that possibly need balance and healing.

The figure in the center is the Vitruvian Man. It’s a favorite of mine. It is from the renaissance period of art and Leonardo da Vinci does a beautiful job depicting one of the first known postural drawings. There is so much related to symmetry with temples as well as our body’s. It is amazing to me that before much information he was able to figure out and conclude the necessity of posture for our bodies. Such a beautiful depiction of how we are designed and our oneness with the divine as well as earth. No matter your walk or choice of higher being you were fearfully and wonderfully made.

Tree of life-harmony and balance in nature, rebirth and connection of the earthly and the spiritual

My mom was a nurse and passionate about her field. She was also a family person and equally as passionate about her family. She managed to provide a nourishment to both systems that created health and longevity to all of its branches big and small. She loved the tree of life and after a patient gifted her with one she wore it around her neck often. I am honored to incorporate something with my moms life to honor her legacy as I continue to carry out my passion.
I chose all of these things in the brand because of the vision that I have with this wellness clinic. I hope it will embody and embrace healing and health from the deepest part of people to the most superficial parts.

In time Gen’Roots wellness will offer wellness coaching as well as other forms and modalities of wellness but for now we encourage you to come for work on your body and yet still working the deepest part of your being all the while achieving wellness and healing. I invite you to walk alongside of me and allow me to assist you in finding the roots of dysfunction or being a root system in your journey of growth and new birth in your mind, body and spirit.

A few things from BJ. ❤️

As you most know I lost my mom on 3/4. The months leading up to that were hard to navigate as she battled. I cannot begin to put to words what it meant to me and my family to have your support through it and on this side of it. Thank you. It has been a hard season but like fire does it forges pure gold. There’s beauty in the ashes. I am excited to also announce I will be moving by the end of this month from the location of 5 years to a new one. It is definitely bitter sweet. When I created Myo Health and Wellness branding I was excited and thankful. It will always be near and dear to my heart. It doesn’t completely embody the vision I carry any longer so with the location change there will be a rebranding as well. I am honored to be able to pay tribute to my mom in ways that her life will continue to serve as I continue to serve our community. Keep your eyes and ears open for the changes that will be taking place. I’ll be announcing them soon.

As always, you’re loved valued and appreciated.

To my community…Thank you again for trusting me with your health. ❤️❤️

BJ McDaniel, a 2017 graduate of Southern Regional Technical College’s Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (NMT) program, has set her intentions on improving health and wellness for her community.

After graduating from the NMT program at SRTC-Moultrie, BJ opened her own business in 2018: MYO Health and Wellness on Broad Street, near downtown Camilla. The term ‘myo’ is Greek for ‘muscle’, but she is quick to point out that, “massage therapy is more than muscles. It rejuvenates your whole body. In turn, your mind and spirit can be rejuvenated as well.”

In the five years since MYO Health and Wellness first opened, the business has grown from a few appointments a week to a busy five-day-a-week practice. BJ is hearing impaired, but what others might call a disability, she considers an asset, especially in her massage work. “Because I cannot hear well, I experience the world more strongly through my other senses,” she says. “When someone is on my table, I can read their body with my hands. I can find their pain points and sense how to bring them relief.”

She credits much of her current success to her studies and hands-on training with SRTC’s NMT program. “It was tough. It was a commitment, but my NMT instructor Michaela Underwood trained and prepared me to get to work the day I graduated. Obviously, I have grown and improved in my profession thanks to experience and continuing my education. Time has made me better, but that program 110% made me who I am in the health and wellness field today.”

BJ grew up surrounded by medicine, as many of her family members were healthcare providers. As a young mother, she began looking into holistic approaches to health and wellness. “When one of my babies became very ill with symptoms that confounded physicians, I began researching out of desperation,” she said. “I became a believer in holistic, integrative healthcare as a component of modern medical science.” One increasingly popular approach to treating the body, mind, and spirit is “Ayurvedic” medicine.

In the United States, Ayurvedic medicine is a complementary health approach. Increasingly, physicians, hospitals, physical therapy offices, chiropractors, and wellness centers are incorporating massage and other whole-person integrative techniques into their treatment offerings for patients and clients. Integrative health experts work alongside traditional clinicians to augment and enhance patient care. “For instance, one approach to integrative health would be lymphatic massage for breast cancer patients,” explained BJ. “That treatment would integrate into the patient’s existing standard of care. I have seen remarkable results with my clients. The science is there. We are just catching up here in America.”

BJ is currently working towards her Bachelor of Ayurveda Wellness & Integrative Health degree at Maharishi International University, and she plans to keep going beyond that degree. “I am very interested in what I am doing. The more I learn, the more I want to know. As I utilize my knowledge and skills and see people get well, I am inspired to expound on what I am learning.” Ultimately, she intends to earn her Ph.D.

As for the future of MYO Health and Wellness, BJ intends to expand her practice to incorporate other modalities of health into the business. Among the new services she hopes to offer are wellness coaching, IV hydration, and nutrition. “My vision is restoring the mind, body, and spirit,” she said. “This passion started with caring for my children and it has only grown from there. I want better health and wellness for my children, and for our entire community.”

I hope all of you are hanging in there and the progress we have made on our journey together has carried you far. I am so ready to get back in the saddle and do what I love. As you all know Governor Kemp re-opened our economy which meant that, I as a therapist could return as soon as 4/24. I have chosen to wait until a potential spike in cases of Covid has settled a bit. My hopes and prayers is that our local leaders and business’s have been wise and we have staggered it just how it needs to be to keep our healthcare system from being overwhelmed. It has been a trying time but such a necessary time for America to heal and families to find what’s truly important. I appreciate all of your patience and am looking forward to my return. My start back date is June 1st. I will be limited in numbers on a daily basis as our protocols have changed somewhat and will cost a little more time and due diligence for a season. Things will look different for a bit but we will manage and see it through together. I miss you all!! See you in June!!!
