That white coating on baby is called Vernix. Yes, it looks like baby is covered in cottage cheese/zinc oxide, BUT IT IS GOOD! It is made up of water, protein and fat. And 39% of the proteins have components of immunity and 29% have antimicrobial properties. I know it is tempting to want to bathe your baby and I promise there will be plenty of baths over the next 10 years, so LEAVE BABY BE! I don’t often take a stance on these types of things, but the benefits outweigh a “clean” baby! Nurses in the hospital will ask and you have the right to say “that’s ok, we are going to bathe baby when we get home!”

This incredible visual from (via ) — is of an adult, post menopausal uterus removed in a radical hysterectomy.
“The average uterus is 3-4 inches by 2.5 inches. In menstruating women, the uterus grows up to 3x its original size. When your baby reaches full term, your uterus will be bigger than five times its original size with a capacity of 500 times more than before you conceived. It'll be 15 times heavier on its own without the baby and the placenta. After you give birth, the uterus immediately starts contracting to shrink itself. One week after delivery it'll weigh about 1.5 pounds but two weeks after birth it'll be down to 11 ounces. By the six week after pregnancy it'll be back to its pre-pregnancy weight of 2.5 ounces.”
