To my amazing clients:
We have all been watching the news over the last two weeks, and we have seen a lot of change in our federal government. Some of you know that my husband is a federal employee. Others of you also know that I have a child who attends school from home due to special needs.
The return-to-office orders that Patrick has received are slated to begin this Monday, February 10, 2025. Without Pat’s presence at home, the kiddo who needs to access his education online is left unsupervised. I am sure you see where this is going.
As of today, I will be working every other week when my kids are with their co-parents. I was able to take many clients when my husband could work from home on kiddo weeks, and I no longer will be able to honor those appointments. Each of you affected will receive a message from me directly with an invitation to reschedule.
With a shift in my availability, there will be a shift in rates. I am crunching numbers, trying to make a business work with a 40% loss in appointment availability and, therefore, income. I’ll have a new session fee schedule as soon as I finish fighting with myself.
I am so, so sorry. It's very safe to say I absolutely hate this. Patrick’s federal position has always had remote work options, even prior to COVID-19, in order to maintain flexibility and resilience as an engineering manager serving the Department of Defense. My access to work while being a mom to special needs children has been supported by this fact for the last 8 years. I want nothing more than to support my family and community, doing this work that I love so much. My hope is that these situations are temporary, and normalcy is restored, but I can not see when that might happen.
Sincerely,
Alainna Sharkey LMT
