Honed Skills

Marines and Sailors with 2nd Medical Battalion, 2nd MLG Conduct various training evolutions during the months of February and March.

Navy Nurse, Medical, and Medical Service Corps officers participate in 2nd Medical Battalion’s Officer Field Craft Course, allowing officers to familiarize themselves with the skills required for success when participating in Marine Corps operations.

Sailors conduct both Valkyrie and Prolonged Field Care courses, gaining the required skills needed furnish and administer whole blood, as well as managing care of patients for longer time frames in the field.

Additionally, Marines with 2nd Medical Battalion’s Motor Transport section engage in convoy and resupply operations in the convoy simulator to include responding to ambushes and managing simulated casualties.

Members of the En-Route Care team assigned to 2nd Medical Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, conduct en-route medical training in conjunction with VMM-266, The Fighting Griffins. The ERC team is responsible for stabilizing, treating, and bringing advanced life support to any location from point of injury, to transportation to higher echelon of care. Working with 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing allows medical providers with Medical Battalion to become more comfortable and familiar with delivering care in any environment or airframe.

Members included Cpl Brionna Hartley receiving the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Lcpl Emmanuel PeraltaMosquea receiving a Certificate of Commendation, 1stLt Samuel Price is presented with Junior Officer of the Quarter, HM3 Joshua Katzenberger reenlists and is promoted to Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class, and Command Master Chief Joseph James obtains his Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Qualification.

U.S. Marines and Navy Sailors with 2nd Medical Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, Conduct Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) training aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC, in January of 2026. During the training, Marines and Sailors demonstrated the ability to don and doff the protective mask in addition to conducting a filter exchange prior to entering the gas chamber.

CBRN Training ensures that members of Second Medical Battalion can deliver patient care to any casualty in any environment.

Sailors with 2d Medical Battalion, 2d MLG conduct the ground trauma lanes as part of the En-Route Care Course (ERC). The en-route care program fulfills a critical purpose in 2d Medical Battalion allowing teams to bring critical care capabilities to patients at point of injury and in transit to higher level care. The En route care course teaches advanced level medical care including management of ventilated adult and pediatric patients. Additional training covers medical procedures to stabilize, treat, and transport a critically ill patient while using state of the art medical equipment, such as the MOVES system—an all in one ventilator, oxygen generator, and monitoring unit.

U.S. Navy Sailors with the Forward Resuscitative Surgical System (FRSS), Alpha Company, 2nd Medical Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, conduct simulated surgical cases during certification exercise 26.1.5. The FRSS is comprised of a rapidly deployable team of surgeons, anesthesia providers, and enlisted surgical technicians and is designed to treat and stabilize patients in diverse operational environments. CERTEX serves as the primary readiness evaluation for surgical platoons within 2nd Medical Battalion, testing their ability to triage, treat, evacuate, and track patients while also assessing communications, logistics, and responses to simulated threats.

The LTI serves to ensure all the necessary gear needed for 2nd Medical Battalion to perform Role II operations during the CERTEX is present and in working condition.
