Alexis came to Hope after fleeing a domestic violence situation.

She was a single mom of a young daughter who experienced her world collapsing before her eyes. She had no vehicle, no place to live, and a part time job that didn’t make ends meet. Fortunately, she was able to receive some help from a family member to move into an apartment and then someone told her about Hope Women’s Center.

She was able to connect to one of our Centers for emergency resources and heard about the Every Mother’s Advocate (ĒMA) program that provides extra support to moms in crisis. She signed up immediately and began meeting with her advocate weekly. Throughout her time in the ĒMA program, she was able to obtain a vehicle and received a raise at her job! Her income grew by 100% by the time she finished the ĒMA program in 10 short weeks!

Today, Alexis is thriving and says, “the ĒMA program has completely changed my life! I wish more moms that were struggling like me knew they could come here to find help and hope!”

Stories like Alexis’s remind us why Hope exists. Because of your support, we can walk beside women through their hardest seasons and help them discover that healing and change are possible.

Share Hope with your circle and help a woman find her way to a stronger future.

“Domestic violence was a big part of how I found Hope Women’s Center,” shared Amber through tears. “I didn’t know that ‘domestic violence’ was the proper term for what I went through when I was in it. For 10 years, I was in an abusive situation.

𝗜 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗜 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝘁.

When I finally escaped the abuse, I didn’t know where to turn. I found myself not knowing where to go or what to do. And then, I found Hope Women’s Center. I began taking Hope Equips classes, where I learned about becoming a better parent, life skills like healthy boundaries, nutrition and creating a budget.

I felt welcomed and safe when I came here. I have never experienced anything like that before in my life outside of Hope, even my relationship with my mom. But at Hope, I just felt like it was safe to be myself.

I’ve realized that working on healing as a mother and breaking the cycle of the trauma we’ve dealt with in our own families and in unhealthy relationships is worth it. It is worth it to heal for the sake of our kids, because they deserve the best. They deserve us to be the best versions of ourselves as mothers. Hope Women’s Center helps women like us to become the best version of ourselves. I am so grateful I found Hope.”

Together, let’s give more women, like Amber, a safe space to rest, heal and change her future!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and at Hope, we see the lasting impact domestic violence has on women and their children. Through trauma-informed care, counseling, mentoring, and family support, we help moms rebuild safety and stability so their children can experience healing and hope, too.

One of those moms is Evelyn.

Evelyn’s life was very complicated when she first came to Hope Women’s Center. She had just left an abusive relationship and was struggling with life as a single mom. Hope’s life skills classes and parenting classes in addition to the one on one mentoring helped Evelyn become stable and secure.

A few months later, Evelyn found herself back in an abusive relationship. Hope was the first place she thought to go, but she was worried and embarrassed to come back. She thought, “How could I be in the same situation again?!” From her first moment at Hope, she felt so loved and cared for.

“𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲,” 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱. 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻. 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿.

When women come to Hope, they find the education, support, and compassion they need to recognize abuse, and when the time is right, decide what to do about it. Children are cared for in a safe environment which gives them room to rest and play.

Your support helps make Hope a safe place for women and children who are hurting, no matter the circumstance. Thank you for partnering with us to give women and their children the compassionate space to heal.

Daniela sat in the room with her mentor wondering how she would ever get out. For years, she experienced emotional and physical abuse from her fiancé. Coming to Hope Women’s Center was scary, but it was the first place she started to believe things could change. Slowly, Daniela found the strength to leave that relationship and began taking brave steps toward healing. Through counseling, mentoring and support, she discovered her voice and learned that she didn’t have to walk through life afraid anymore.

Months later, Daniela is filled with hope. “For so long, I thought I had a hopeless story,” she said. “It’s a hope story now.”

Life can feel heavy sometimes. We all carry challenges, and for our women who come to Hope Women’s Center, those challenges often include abuse, poverty, and homelessness.

Even a small change can make a big difference. A fresh haircut feels so good and boosts confidence. More than just a haircut, they are receiving dignity and compassion. Our Hope women are reminded that they are loved and they matter.

We are so grateful to the amazing ladies from A New Beginnings who gave these free haircuts! Because of our community volunteers, we can provide these special moments to women who need support and hope.

We believe every woman deserves to feel seen, cared for, and valued. Your support helps us continue creating these moments of hope and joy every single day.

We are so grateful for our incredible partnership with Arizona State University!

Over the past 5 years, ASU students have helped us serve more than 5,700 women and teen girls across Arizona through data analysis, MBA consulting, grant writing, and hands-on volunteer work.

ASU graduate students analyzed our client data to identify service gaps and give insights into our future expansion, which will support more women and teen girls in crisis.

As our CEO, Tammy Abernethy, shared, "It's just been a fantastic exchange. We have been able to use the students' ideas and innovations."

This type of partnership is powerful! Working directly with ASU students gives us the information we need to reach more communities across our beautiful state.

Thank you, ASU, for helping us turn data into hope!

Abide Maternity Home offers love and practical support to pregnant women and parenting families in the Camp Verde community.

We desire to offer support to women who need more than a once a week appointment. Our goal is to equip women with the skills and resources needed to move forward in life with newfound hope. We believe that a place to call home is where that journey can begin and Anna House is that home.

Our Family Resource Center is a special place where pregnant women, fathers and parenting individuals can learn, grow, and understand how to be good parents. Our programs provide education and personal coaching from conception through the toddler years and beyond.
