Last minute holiday entertaining can be incredibly stressful, especially if it’s last minute. But it doesn’t have to be with this mind shift: Make do with what you have.

Yep, that’s right… you don’t have to go out and find the perfect pitcher or that new trendy-color tablecloth. Instead, reimagine what you already have in your house to freshen things up and prepare for your guests.

Here are a few simple ideas you can put to use if you find yourself entertaining at the last minute.

*Use canning jars as water glasses, vases, or tea light holders.

*Have a variety of glassware – this makes it fun and a bit more eclectic.

*Grab some food staples you already have to make an appetizer platter – drain, season, and bake a can of chickpeas, slice up that block of cheese you already have in your fridge, defrost that bread you made a couple of weeks ago, warm jarred olives in oil and citrus rinds, and throw some nuts in a bowl.

*Put on some music to set the tone – maybe it’s bright and festive, maybe it’s quiet and jazzy.

*Don’t overthink things.

As we’re moving into the busy holiday season, it’s so important to stop for a moment to think about how we can be intentional about taking good care of ourselves.

If eating a well-balanced diet is as important to you as it is to us, we have a trick that will keep you on track and help you steer clear of the sugary temptations that are everywhere! It’s a little herb called Gymnema! 🌿

This herb is not usually part of your dinner table conversation, but it very well should be! Gymnema contains a certain phytochemical called gymnemic acid. And when you hold that little green tablet on your tongue, it can help block the sugar receptors on your taste buds, making that “sweet treat” much less appealing!

Your immune system, heart health, digestive health, brain health, cholesterol levels, blood sugar levels, weight, and more, can all be directly influenced by your microbiome. WOW! There’s a lot riding on a well-balanced gut!

While some gut bacteria can cause disease, many good bacteria are directly related to your good health as mentioned above. The more good bacteria and diversity you have, the better your overall health will be. Having high numbers of good bacteria help to keep the bad bacteria numbers in check, ensuring that they don’t have the opportunity to take over, tipping the scales in a negative direction.

Ooooh, there are so many to choose from, and choose you should because fermented foods provide a wide variety of probiotics that help keep a high diversity of good bacteria along the intestinal tract.

So much of our health, including proper digestion and immune function, relies on a healthy gut. Adding fermented foods to your diet will improve the healthy microbes and maybe even encourage the not so friendly ones to take a hike! 👋
