Cavities aren’t fun, but getting them filled doesn’t have to be a big deal.

When your child needs a filling, we take extra care to make the experience as quick and easy as possible. We start by gently numbing the area, and if your child is feeling nervous, we may offer nitrous oxide to help them relax.

Once the area is numb, we remove the decay, clean the tooth, and place a small filling. If you have any concerns, don't hesitate to ask Dr. B. If you suspect your child may have a cavity, schedule an appointment: 408-871-2885

Thumb sucking can be a comforting habit for little ones, but if it sticks around too long, it can start to affect how their mouth and teeth develop.

Most kids stop on their own between ages 2 and 4, but if your child is still sucking their thumb past age 3, it’s a good idea to check in. Ongoing thumb sucking can lead to bite issues or changes in jaw growth that might require orthodontic care down the road. With a little patience and some positive reinforcement, most kids can kick the habit. Not sure where to start? Ask Dr. B — we’re here to help!

Here's a toothpaste tip for your tots:
For children up to 3 years old, use a dab of toothpaste that's about the size of a grain of rice. For children older than 3, use a pea-sized amount. It may not seem like much, but that tiny amount is just right for protecting little teeth without overexposing them to fluoride. Always make sure an adult is helping with brushing until your child can do a thorough job on their own. 😁

On this day, we pause to remember the innocent lives lost, the countless heroes who rose, and the families forever changed by the events of 9/11. We honor the first responders, the survivors, and the families who carry the weight of this day every year.

New teeth, who dis?

Teething is an exciting milestone, but it can also come with some drool, fussiness, and restless nights. Most babies start teething between 4 and 7 months, and every child experiences it a little differently.

If your little one is showing signs like chewing on everything, sore gums, or extra crankiness, teething could be the culprit. Gentle gum massages, chilled (not frozen!) teething rings, and lots of snuggles can help soothe the discomfort.

Do you have questions about teething? We’re here for you every step of the way. Visit our website: https://barreradds.com/

Kids are adventurous, and sometimes that means chipped teeth happen! If your child chips a tooth, stay calm and follow these quick steps:

✔️ Rinse their mouth with warm water
✔️ Apply a cold compress if there’s swelling
✔️ Save the tooth fragment if you can (store it in milk or saliva)
✔️ Call Dr. B. Pediatric Dentistry as soon as possible for an evaluation

Even small chips can lead to bigger problems if left untreated, so it’s always best to get it checked out. In case of emergency, call us: 408-871-2885
