Every baby is different, but most babies start getting their first teeth around 6 months old. The bottom front teeth are usually the first to appear, followed by the top front teeth. From there, new teeth slowly come in until most children have a full set of 20 baby teeth by age 3.

If you ever have questions about your child’s teething timeline, Dr. B can help guide you every step of the way. 💙

Accidents happen, and knowing what to do can make a big difference. If a tooth is chipped, gently rinse your child’s mouth and save any pieces if possible. If a permanent tooth is knocked out, keep it moist (in milk or saliva if you can) and contact Dr. B. Pediatric Dentistry right away. Acting quickly helps protect your child’s smile and reduce discomfort.

If milk, juice, or sugary snacks are left on teeth overnight, bacteria have hours to feed on those sugars, increasing the risk of cavities. A simple bedtime routine — brushing, flossing when needed, and drinking only water after brushing — helps protect growing smiles while they sleep.

Did you know: prolonged bottle use can increase the risk of cavities in your little one? When teeth are constantly exposed to milk, formula, juice, or other drinks, it can lead to early childhood caries, also known as baby bottle tooth decay. Extended bottle use may also affect tooth alignment and oral muscle development, which play a role in clear speech. For tips on how to wean your child off a bottle, ask Dr. B at your appointment.

Our Story

At Dr. B’s Pediatric Dentistry we specialize in one department only: dental care for kids! Of course that includes everything from solutions for teething discomfort to dental issues particular to adolescence.

All this, in a bright and stimulating, kid-friendly environment where every member of our team works hard to calm, reassure and even entertain your child. For a long lifetime of dental health, we know the importance of making those early visits to the dentist positive and often fun!
