Oof da…who here has been a victim of the clean plate club?🍽️
I know I was.
Your membership in the clean plate club could have been for a number of different factors.
▪️Maybe you struggled with food insecurity growing up.
▪️Maybe you come from a large family and food was more scarce.
▪️Maybe you grew up with parents who lived through hard times and projected their fears onto you and insisted that you clean your plate.
▪️Maybe wasting money goes against your personal values.
♻️Let’s think of waste for a moment.
🗑️If you throw away uneaten food, you’re throwing money in the garbage can.
But, if you eat everything on your plate even after you’re full…
▫️You won’t enjoy that food.
▫️You might feel physically ill from eating it.
Doesn’t that feel wasteful too?
So instead of throwing food awaw or cleaning your plate to avoid food waste…
🔹put it away for leftovers
🔹take some over to your neighbors house
🔹make less food to begin with (knowing that you can always have more if you’re still hungry).
But remember, you are not a human garbage disposal.
You can honor your value of saving money in other ways that still leave you feeling satisfied.
