March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month - Here’s what you should know:

Excluding certain types of skin cancer, Colorectal Cancer is the third leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States.

The CDC recommends getting screened at 50 however, colorectal cancer in people younger than 50 is on the rise so be aware of the symptoms and check with your doctor if you have concerns.

Today February 4th, marks World Cancer Day, a global awareness initiative led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) with a goal of unifying people from all across the world in the fight against the global cancer epidemic.

Introducing Paula! Paula is the newest member of our team, taking on the role as our Radiation Oncology Nurse. Prior to coming to TRRO, Paula worked for 10 years at Baptist Health Hardin as a charge nurse and telemetry nurse. She was born and raised in Lebanon, KY where she resides today with her family. Paula is a UK sports fan and has a 1 year old son who is her world! We are so happy to have Paula on our team. Her official start date is February 22nd so if you see her around the office, please welcome her!

After 4 1/2 years, our wonderful nurse Kelly is moving on to Springview hospital where she will be the new OR nurse. Kelly will miss her patients tremendously and she will be dearly missed by all of us here at TRRO! Today is her last day so if you see her, wish her all the best!

Meet Our Physician
Dr. Hardin is a radiation oncologist with over 20+ years of experience. His practice, located in Campbellsville, KY, is part of the area’s ONLY cancer program certified by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

How it began:
Dr. Hardin had an interesting start on his journey to become a radiation oncologist. He actually began as an engineer and only entered into medical school to learn how to better communicate with doctors in order to design medical equipment. However, after two years he realized he loved patient interaction and decided to apply his engineering background to the complexities of cancer care, specifically radiation therapy.

Why Campbellsville:
While Dr. Hardin isn’t from Kentucky, his mother and grandparents are and he always held fond memories of visiting every summer so when an opportunity arose in Campbellsville, he felt it was meant to be.

Why TRRO:
We are committed to providing exceptional cancer care close to home. We feel that patients do best when they can remain in their homes and still be members of their communities, attend church, and be close to family and friends. It’s that sense of community that sets us apart. We provide the quality care of a big hospital but with a staff of 4 who have all grown up in or around Campbellsville.
