From the Pharmacy Counter to the Heart of a Community: Hometown Connect Enters a New Season
Campbellsville, KY - Hometown Connect was never meant to be a program. It was a response, a faithful yes, to the needs seen up close.
What began when Dr. Nelda Eads and Dr. MeLeigha Milby looked across the counter at their retail pharmacy and saw hurting people, quickly grew into something much greater than they imagined. They saw the gaps. They saw the hunger. The loneliness. The struggle for connection. And with hearts stirred by compassion, they stepped out in faith and invited the community to join them.
The response was nothing short of extraordinary.
Through shared meals, meaningful conversations, and hands-on care, Hometown Connect became more than a nonprofit. It became a place of refuge and renewal. It became home for many. What started as an effort to serve the most vulnerable turned into lasting relationships and sacred moments of transformation.
In time, the ministry deepened, not only in reach but also in heart. Collaborations with churches, community agencies, individuals and fellow nonprofits brought encouragement, partnership, and mutual ministry. Time and again, stories of redemption, reconciliation, and salvation fueled the work. So many reminders that God was moving in the margins.
Families were restored.
Addictions were broken.
New brothers and sisters in Christ were welcomed home.
Hometown Connect announces that the ministry will be entering a season of dormancy. This decision comes not from defeat, but from discernment. A faithful pause to reflect, refocus, and release the next chapter into the hands of others.
As Hometown Connect rests, a new ministry opportunity is being prepared. Project 410, an independent nonprofit, will carry forward many elements of the original mission while stepping into new areas of outreach and care. Details about Project 410 will be shared with the community in the near future from their leadership.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to every person who made Hometown Connect what it was:
To the volunteers who gave their time, the donors who gave sacrificially, the businesses who partnered generously, and the neighbors who believed that compassion is worth the cost…you were the hands and feet of Christ.
Your time, talent, and treasure made a difference. And that difference still echoes.
Campbellsville, our Hometown, is a special place. And it’s the heartbeat of service that sets it apart. That heartbeat continues in every church outreach, every recovery group, every community meal, every act of kindness done in Jesus’ name.
The table is still open. The need is still real. And the invitation to serve is still for all of us.
