☀️ It may be the last month of summer, but the heat is still on—and so is swimming season! Whether you're splashing around in a backyard pool, heading to the lake, or relaxing poolside at the Canadian Community Center, water fun should always come with a healthy dose of caution.

🏊‍♂️ Pool and water safety isn’t just a summer kickoff thing—it’s an every-swim thing. Drowning can happen in seconds and in silence. Please keep an eye on the kids, use life jackets when needed, and never swim alone.

JC’s journey comes full circle as he returns to his hometown roots in Canadian. In 2022, JC followed a new calling into the counseling world, earning his Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Houston Christian University and becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy-Associate (LMFT-A) in 2024.

JC offers hope-filled support for individuals, couples, and families. “I believe in the transformative power of story—the stories we live, and the stories we tell ourselves. The more we understand where our story has been, where it is now, and where we hope it goes, the more we can live with peace, purpose, and meaning.”

We couldn’t be more excited to welcome JC home and have him share his gifts with our town and region. He and his wife, Isabel, are excited to be a part of our community.

🌟 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗿. 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹’𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗖𝗛𝗗 🌟

Last Friday, we gathered with 𝐇𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 staff and community members to celebrate 𝗗𝗿. 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹—a physician whose dedication, compassion, and leadership have left a lasting mark on our hospital district and the lives of countless patients.

From family medicine at 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 to emergency care, Dr. Culwell has served with excellence and heart. His commitment to rural healthcare, his role as medical director for multiple services, and his deep involvement in the community have made him a true pillar of Hemphill County.

Though we’ll miss his daily presence, we send our warmest wishes to Dr. Culwell and his family as they begin their next chapter. 💙
