As we head into the weekend with the upcoming snow storm, please keep an eye on the forecast in case you need to cancel or reschedule (agead of time, please) your appointment Monday due to heavy snow, especially if you live further out from Cndga and get hit harder. We have plenty of availability Tuesday on, so please put your safety first and reschedule if you cannot make it in. Better safe than sorry!
Please also keep an eye on your texts and emails if you have an appointment Monday morning, as we may need to make adjustments in order to give us enough time to safely open the office, or if we have to close down entirely which hopefully will not be the case. Cndga is currently projected to get 12+ inches of snow, so we may need to hook sleds up to the dogs to help us clear away the sidewalk ☃️😜
FIRST STAB: Bright colors and big numbers on our first snow map for the upcoming wintry stretch ahead. Humor me for a moment as I do my best to highlight some realities ahead. First and foremost, it remains early in the forecast game. The map below serves as a heads up (many of you appreciate the early peek behind the curtain). Posting maps early like this carries inherent risk, namely the greater likelihood for error. Please understand that this map can and likely will evolve in the days ahead. Numbers could go down. Or go up. It's the reality of forecasting.
Snow will come in several waves and flavors in the days ahead. First, with lake effect. Then widespread "system" snow. Then some more lake effect. This combination will likely lead to appreciable snow everywhere, but still with smaller scale bullseyes of heavier stuff.
Friday-Saturday: As bitterly cold air pours in, sneaky lake effect snow will develop. Across parts of northern Monroe and Wayne county especially, several inches of fluffy accumulation will set the table.
Sunday-early Monday: For most, this will be the "main event". Model consensus continues to suggest a solid foot of snow for everyone. Because we're still several days away, this forecast still remains somewhat ambiguous.
Monday: Some additional lake effect snow will top things off with a few more fluffy inches for the usual suspects. Again, likely northern Monroe and Wayne.
All in, the added assist from Lake Ontario could net some spots totals of a foot & a half, perhaps even closer to two feet. Remember, that won't all fall from the "system" snow Sunday-early Monday. But by the end of the night Monday, my gut says that's a reasonable range as I see things right now. High snow ratios, plenty of moisture and very cold air check 3 big boxes for an impactful WNY snowstorm.
