We wanted to take a moment to recognize and honor all those who lost their lives 24 years ago today, and that we are thinking of all the families and first responders still affected by this tragedy... We also wanted to thank all of those who bravely went into the chaos to help those in need and all of the first responders for their bravery... With the uncertain times this country is experiencing currently, we wanted to remind everyone of the America that came together after this senseless act of violence, regardless of political party or beliefs, that day and the days following we were unified as a nation like never before... Today we take a moment of silence to remember those we lost that day, and those still battling the lasting effects, but also encourage everyone to think back to how we came together and hope that we can be the American of 9/12 again β€οΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²

Dr. Brooke, Mae, and the rest of Dr. Brooke's pack Newton and Nala wanted to wish all our IMPT friends and family a Safe and Happy 4th of July!

How are you all celebrating today?!

Its a πŸ”₯ HOT πŸ”₯ one out there today friends! Dr. Brooke was out on a training run this afternoon and had a couple thoughts about staying safe and active in this heat she wanted to share!

#1 (and most important): STAY HYDRATED! Our bodies lose both waterπŸ’¦ AND saltπŸ§‚ when we sweat so making sure to replenish both water AND electrolytes is crucial to prevent muscle cramping!

#2: Do a proper warm-up! πŸƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈIt may seem silly with the heat but exercising on a cold muscle is never a good idea regardless of the outside temperature

#3: Exercise within your body's capabilities! πŸ’ͺ Don't try to push for a high intensity workout if your body; a) isn't used to intense exercise if you've just started your fitness journey or b) isn't used to exercising in the heat/humidity πŸ₯΅

#4: Indoor workouts are great to beat the heat and still get some exercise in! Walking pads πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ and little objects around the house for weights are a great alternative to battling the heat! Swimming is another great exercise that lets you beat the heat too! πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

#5: Have your phoneπŸ“± with you or exercise in a public place incase you begin to have symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, that way you can call for help if needed! πŸ’Š

#6: Enjoy the weather (with sunscreen of course)! 🌞

There are so many more tips/tricks we could share but wanted to give you all a couple quick ones that Dr. Brooke was thinking of on her run this afternoon! Any questions, comments, or other tips feel free to drop us a comment, call/text us, shoot us an email, or message us on here!

Stay safe everyone!

This is why we do what we do! These are the types of messages we LOVE to get from our clients and their families!

Dez is a FANTASTIC track/cross-country athlete who had a sudden onset of pain just below his knee right before several major end-of-year meets that he didn't want to miss... We got him in immediately and figured out the problem, did some soft tissue/joint mobilizations and gave him some targeted exercises that he could do before, during, and after the meets to help correct what was going on... We also helped him out for one meet with a but of taping since it the meet was only 2 days away... Fast forward 2weeks and these are the messages we got from his mother last night and today! And we couldn't be happier for him!

Dez is an amazing athlete with a very promising career ahead of him and we are so grateful that he trusts us enough to keep him healthy and performing at his best! We got you Dez!

We specialize in athletes and active individuals who want to keep doing what they love and stay injury-free! If that sounds like you or someone you know give us a call/text and lets see how we can help you!

More Wellness Wednesday factoids friends! This time in honor of Global Running Day! How many of you remember to warm-up and stretch before your runs? These are some quick and easy ones we recommend to all our clients and that Dr. Brooke does before her own runs!

More Wellness Wednesday fun facts! We're still in gardening mode around here and wanted to give you all another tip to keep your backs feeling good!

In case you didn't know, May is Mental Health Awareness Month! It's an extremely important topic and Mae and Dr. Brooke just wanted to share a couple tips/tricks for maintaining good mental hygiene to help keep your physical body healthy as well!

1.) MOVE! Exercise! Whatever feels good for you and gets your heart rate up and moves you around releases endorphins that help us to feel good!

2.) Get Some Sun! Vitamin D found in the sun helps to also keep us feeling good! By releasing those endorphins again we can break out of that bleakness we feel during long/cold/dark winter months!

3.) Eat and Drink Well! Staying properly hydrated and fueled will help keep you physically healthy which can help fuel your brain to keep it functioning its best!

4.) Sleep Well! Proper sleep hygiene is crucial for not only physical, but mental recovery as well! Getting adequate sleep allows our bodies to recover and reset so we're ready for the next day!

These are just a couple tips/tricks we like, but there are so many other things you can do to protect your mental health! We see a lot of athletes go through identity crises after an injury that takes them away from their sport for a period of time, and we try to help them have other means of coping and reassure them that it is only temporary and they will be able to be active again soon!

That being said, another thing thay we want to drive home is that IT'S OK TO NOT BE OK! There is no shame in admitting that you're struggling and in need of help, and there are so many resources avaliable! If you feel that you're struggling reach out to a good friend or family member, reach out to a therapist, or if you're seeing us at the clinic and struggling talk to us! We are here to listen and can help get you in contact with other professionals!

Remember friends, no one is alone and Mental Health Matters! We here at In Motion PT are here for you and want to be cheering you on as you get back to your favorite activities!

If you're dealing with an injury or pain that is impacting your ability to participate in your favorite things, don't hesitate to give us a call! We specialize in active individuals and love getting you back out there!
