Burnout is a huge problem. Nearly 50% of employees say that they are burnt out, ether from doing a job that is not reasonable for one person to complete or doing the job of many people because of understaffing due to lack of hiring in an uncertain economy.

Do you find yourself burnt out and not knowing where to turn. Yoga and meditation can help with burnout by allowing the mind to quiet and focus on something else. Find a mindful movement yoga class at Closed Lotus Yoga to help with burnout.

Make change happen with this simple meditation.
It is so hard to make changes....
For the average person it takes about 66 days to make real change. It can take less or more time depending on the habit you are looking to change. I know how hard it has been for me to make changes. here are some bigger goals I still haven’t reached while other smaller ones have been successful. During my yoga therapy training I started making my bed every day. Day after day I got up and made my bed. It took a while to make the change but the more I got the satisfaction of crawling into a made bed at night the more reassurance I got to continue to do it.

Being in Menopause there have been lots of changes I’ve made and haven’t made. I (finally) started taking some of the supplements prescribed to me by an herbalist and have stopped drinking coffee almost entirely. I am also doing an exercise routine almost daily, with some gentle forgiveness on days when I don’t get to it. The more benefits I feel from these changes in my activities (physical exercise, change in eating habits, getting more sleep) the more I am able to continue with them.

What routines do you want to add or get rid of in your day? Is there one thing that you’ve been wanting to make a part of your daily routine? To figure out what that one small step is you want to take towards success, do this short practice and see what reveals itself?

With these ever longer days we are reminded of Spring on the horizon. The weather is still cold and the days are gray which continues to provide us with the opportunity for internal inquiry. The Chinese New Year has begun and along with it the need to move forward with things you have been manifesting during the year of the Snake. For the next year in the year of the Fire Horse you may find that things you have been desiring in life come to be with the right intention and the right movement forward.

In order to take advantage of this momentum, you may find yourself feeling the need for action, but it also serves us to remind ourselves to stay mindful and allow verses forcing. This can be a thin line and something that requires discernment, that deeper wisdom that lies within each of us and requires us to listen, pause and move forward with intention. One way to tap into this inner knowing is to take 20 minutes or less to be still and listen to the needs of your body. Some days it just means slaying in supported postures with blankets and bolsters providing the support that you need. Other times its allowing for slow mindful movement while paying attention to the body's reactions, whether it's accepting or uncomfortable in the moment. This practice allows for discernment; it brings your attention to the body in the present moment so you can feel and respond to the body in the moment. This practice allows you to strengthen your interoception, the inner awareness of yourself, feelings and sensations, so you can make informed decisions about how to move forward.

See how this shows up in your life and how you might heighten your discernment. Want to be on my mailing list so you get more like this?

Spring is around the corner (we hope). The Spring Equinox is on 3/20. With Spring comes a change in our energy levels, and we begin to move outside of ourselves and more into nature after a long season of hibernating in doors.

There is the opportunity to manifest a rebirth and seek out activities that will help you to open to new possibilities and personal inner growth. Just as the plants begin anew so do our human bodies.

Prepare for this transition with a guided yoga class appropriate for all bodies, deeply restorative relaxation with a guided yoga Nidra, and a sound bath to set the stage for cleansing and starting a new.

Join us in preparation for the Spring Equinox on 3/8 10a-12p.
