Zinni Family Practice Elizabeth Zinni, FNP-C

Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Collaborating Physician: Dr. Luis Villaplana, MD

The patient-centered nature of nurse practitioner training, which often includes care coordination and sensitivity to the impact on health of social and cultural factors, such as environment and family situation, makes nurse practitioners particularly well prepared for and interested in providing primary care. Studies found that nurse practitioners do better than physicians on measures related to patient follow up; time spent in consultations; and provision of screening, assessment, and counseling services

Dear patients,
Just a quick reminder -if you have any medical concerns, please call the office directly. I know it might feel easier to shoot me a text or Facebook message, but I honestly can't keep up with messages outside the office, and I don't want anything to get missed. Please give me a little grace -I'm doing my best to take care of everyone while also managing a lot behind the scenes Calling the office is the best way to make
sure you're taken care of the right way!

Thank you for your understanding—I truly appreciate your support and trust. I look forward to continuing to provide you with excellent care ❤️

What happened to medicine?

What happened to looking our patients in the eye, setting the computers aside, and truly listening? When did medicine stop being about people and start being about checking boxes, meeting quotas, and rushing through visits?

Healthcare has become a machine—cold, impersonal, and profit-driven. Patients are reduced to numbers. Providers are drowning in bureaucracy. And the worst part? The very soul of medicine—compassion, connection, and trust—is slipping away.

I see the fear in my patients’ eyes when they can’t get the care they need. I feel the weight of a system that values profits over people, and I know I’m not alone. Every day, providers like me fight to put patients first, but we’re exhausted, pushed to the brink, and left wondering—how much longer can we keep this up?

I didn’t become a provider to click through a checklist. I didn’t take this path to keep insurance companies happy. I did it because people deserve to be heard. They deserve to be treated as human beings, not data points in a system designed for profit.

I don’t have all the answers, but I do know this: I will not become the kind of provider who forgets why I started. I will continue to fight for my patients, to speak up about the reality of our broken system, and to advocate for the care we all deserve.

Something has to change. And I refuse to stay silent about it.

Dear patients,

We hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. As responsible healthcare providers, we want to remind you of the importance of regularly checking the air quality in your surroundings. Poor air quality can have significant effects on your health, and it is crucial to stay informed and take necessary precautions.

Air pollution can stem from various sources such as industrial emissions, vehicle exhaust, wildfires, and even indoor pollutants. When the air quality deteriorates, it can lead to several health problems, particularly for those with pre-existing respiratory conditions or weakened immune systems.

Exposure to polluted air can cause respiratory symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. It can also aggravate existing conditions like asthma, bronchitis, and allergies. Moreover, poor air quality has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, and even certain cancers.

To protect yourself and your loved ones from the adverse effects of poor air quality, we recommend the following steps:

1. Stay informed: Regularly check the air quality index (AQI) in your area. Numerous websites, smartphone applications, and local authorities provide real-time updates on air quality levels. Be aware of any alerts or advisories issued by relevant organizations.

2. Limit outdoor activities: When the air quality is poor, try to minimize your time spent outdoors, especially during peak pollution hours. If possible, reschedule any outdoor exercises or activities for when the air quality improves.

3. Create a clean indoor environment: Since indoor air can also be polluted, ensure proper ventilation in your home or workplace. Use air purifiers if necessary, and avoid smoking or using harmful chemicals indoors.

4. Protect yourself when outdoors: If you must be outside when the air quality is compromised, wear a mask that is specifically designed to filter out pollutants. N95 masks provide effective protection against fine particles in the air.

5. Seek medical advice: If you experience persistent respiratory symptoms or notice any health issues that may be related to poor air quality, consult your healthcare provider. They can offer personalized guidance and recommend appropriate interventions.

Remember, taking proactive steps to safeguard your health is essential, especially in times when air quality may be compromised. By staying informed and following these recommendations, you can reduce the potential health risks associated with poor air quality.

Take care of yourselves and prioritize your well-being.

Best regards,

❤️Zinni Family Practice
