Did you know that about 1.1 million people in the United States are living with Parkinson's disease (PD)? 🌷

🧠 This progressive brain disorder is perhaps most well known for causing tremors, but other symptoms include loss of vocal volume, sleep disruptions, stiffness, and balance issues, among others.

🌟 Meet Penny, our Staff Development Coordinator / Infection Preventionist 🌟

👩‍⚕️ Penny is one of our amazing nurses on the team here. She started out as a Certified Nursing Assistant here during the pandemic while going to school to become LPN and moving on to become an RN.

She's one of those people who isn't going to ask you to do something she isn't willing to do herself. She is always on the ready to help anyone, anywhere, anytime. ROCK STAR! 🎸

It looks like someone practicing how to button a shirt again. 👔 Rebuilding the strength and dexterity to hold a coffee cup. ☕ Rehearsing the motions to prepare a simple meal and learning to use a reacher to safely pick things up without bending 🫳.

April is Volunteer Month, and we are celebrating the amazing people of all ages who share their time with our residents. From calling bingo to painting nails 💅, performing music 🎵 to simply sitting and chatting, our volunteers bring an essential joy and connection to our community.

Meet Aurora, one of our Certified Nursing Assistants! 👩‍⚕️ She shared, "I enjoy being a CNA because it allows me to make a meaningful difference in people's lives every day. I take pride in providing compassionate care, helping residents feel comfortable, respected, and valued. Over the past 6 months working at Life Care, I have gained hands-on experience supporting patients with their daily needs while building strong relationships with both residents and my team. This role has strengthened my patience, communication skills, and ability to stay calm under pressure. Being a CNA is rewarding to me because I can bring comfort and dignity to others during times when they need it most." 💗
