🌟 Meet one of our amazing CNAs, Marci Baca! She has worked at Life Care for a total of 8 years across 3 different facilities, starting out in housekeeping and eventually transitioning into her current role here at Cañon Lodge Care Center. She cites her mother and a Life Care nurse for inspiring her to become a CNA.

Today, National Caregivers Day, we recognize all types of caregivers 🫶: our associates who bring compassion and professionalism to their interactions with our residents; family members who lovingly care for their loved ones; and other professionals in the healthcare industry who take care of those who cannot take care of themselves.

💗 We recently had the pleasure of celebrating 13 years of dedicated service for Elaine Kissell, our Central Supply Director!

Yet there is so much more to how Elaine has blessed our residents and associates over the years. If you factor in the years she worked with us in various roles before moving away and then returning to the front range, she has been a valued staff member for about 20 years! 😊

Elaine has been a Cook, a CNA, a Restorative CNA, a Receptionist, an Activity Assistant, and more. Her heart is truly with the residents, as she says, 💬 "It's not about how much time you have, it's about making the residents feel at peace, and that you care enough to truly listen to them." She has also won the CNA of the Year Award in 2017 and was a finalist for the Colorado Health Care Association's Administrative Support Professional Award in 2025.

Reflecting on her anniversary, Elaine shared, "I have been blessed with a fantastic staff to work around, always supportive, always pushing for success. It truly feels like home here, that has a huge part to play in why I have stayed here so long." 🏡

Happy anniversary, Elaine! Thank you for everything you do and have done for our residents and our team. We are truly blessed because of you! 🫶

2026 is off to a strong start with bold new flavors at Canon Lodge Care Center! 🧑‍🍳 Introducing our Meal of the Month, crafted by our amazingly talented dietary team. 🌟

This month’s featured dish is a chicken quesadilla served with savory baked beans, fluffy cilantro-lime rice, and fresh pico de gallo for the perfect balance of flavor and texture. 🍅🧅🫑 The meal is perfectly rounded out with a refreshing side of freshly diced melons. 🍈 It also wouldn't be January without a delicious bowl of creamy potato cheddar soup topped with bacon. 🥓 Bon appétit to us! 😋
