You could do it- so you did! Maybe not with the right muscles but how can you tell?

One of the biggest mistakes I see I when women are performing exercises that are actually way too hard for their current level of strength. So they grip- clench- compensate.

Our method is designed to lay down the foundation, the put up the studs, then the plumping/electrical…. You get it ☺️.

You’ve been furnishing your plot of land by doing those hard exercises before you’re ready.

In 2022, I started Barbelle Pelvic Rehab because I wanted to create the care I myself would want.

Shortly after, my husband and I found out we had complete infertility.

Working with pregnant and postpartum women was immensely painful in that season. I wasn’t sure I could endure.

But I kept showing up, and I was witnessing too many lives changed to look away. It became so much more than me. We grew, and honestly, healing women also healed something in me. ❤️

I don’t take for granted for a single day that this is the reality for our patients and our team.

If you’ve been with us for a while, let us know in the comments. We are celebrating 4 years of Barbelle, and more importantly, of healing.

Join us for a celebration April 29th, 5–7pm (RSVP via the link in our bio) 🎉

Chronic UTIs are definitely not fun.

If you’ve had UTI symptoms but your cultures keep coming back negative, you’re likely dealing with a pelvic floor tension issue. These muscles can mimic UTI symptoms like burning and pain with urination so closely that it’s almost impossible to tell the difference.

The reason this happens comes down to the pain spasm cycle. Your pelvic floor was protecting you when there was inflammation, but sometimes it just forgets how to relax again. So it stays tight and keeps creating the same symptoms long after the original issue is gone.

If you are getting positive cultures repeatedly, there are a few things worth looking at. How much fluid are you actually taking in throughout the day? Are you fully emptying your bladder when you go? Pelvic floor tension can actually limit your ability to empty completely, which keeps the cycle going.

We also always consider hormones when chronic UTIs keep showing up with positive cultures. Low estrogen is absolutely something to explore with your medical provider, and topical vaginal estrogen is worth bringing up in that conversation.

You don’t have to just keep living with this.

Comment UTI below and I’ll send you more.

✨The pelvic floor needs to relax and contract, holding tension in your stomach also holds tension in the pelvic floor

✨Pushing to p**p or p*e causes increased strain on the pelvic floor muscles and can decrease the effectiveness of your bladders contraction reflex or increase risk of pelvic organ prolapse

✨Clenching your glutes or tucking your tail under can increase tension in the pelvic floor and shorten the back of the pelvic floor over time. It’s also a common compensation for a weak core/pelvic floor

✨hovering over toilets keeps tension in the pelvic floor during a daily activity where it should be fully relaxed. It increases the need for pushing to p*e. Done once a month no big deal done multiple times a day at a work toilet, that’s a no go

✨Holding your breath during exercise exercises impacts the pelvic floors coordination without diaphragm. Breath holders are more likely to leak or have pelvic pressure symptoms
