George F. Satterfield, age 92, of Canton, GA, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at Rock Creek Manor. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He was a past President of the Macedonia Community Club. He was the Owner/Operator of Western-Sizzlin Steak House and a loyal member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Macedonia Baptist Church, with Rev. Terry Caylor and Rev. Brad Ramey officiating. Interment will follow at the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2026, and from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the South Canton Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 71 years, Bonnie Satterfield

Ronald Jackson Payne

Ronald Jackson Payne of Canton, Georgia passed away peacefully at Northside Hospital Cherokee on February 20th, 2026 at the age of 69.

A celebration of life will take place at the Olde Oak Barn in Canton on March 22 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM.

Born in Canton, GA in 1957 to Glenn and Marjorie Payne, Ron graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He had a long and successful career working in power generation and robotics, accumulating numerous patents and gaining a reputation as a brilliant, outgoing engineer and manager with big ideas and a personality to match. Ron’s favorite place to be was on his snowboard making first tracks on a double black diamond slope underneath a bluebird sky. He loved cool cars, adrenaline sports, Georgia Tech football, good Scotch, and his family.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years and partner in crime, Susan Payne, his children, Leah and Jarrett, and his sister Sue. He will be remembered for his singular intellect, his dry wit, and his deep kindness.

John Watkins

Mr. John William Watkins, age 84 of Panama City Beach Florida, formerly of Marietta passed away on February 18, 2026.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 25, 2026 at 2 P.M. from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Hamilton officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Internment will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park.

Mr. Watkins graduated from Cherokee High School and the University of Georgia. He was employed by Lockheed and was later the Head Data Processor with the Georgia Department of Administration Services for the State of Georgia. He also taught night classes at Chattahoochee Tech for 8 years.

Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his parents, Mack McCellen Simpson Watkins and Georgia Loraine Compton Watkins, Son, John Barry Watkins, Aunts, Florence Pirkle, Gladys Bishop, Irene Boling, Liddy McDougal and Kate Gaddis, Uncle, Lonnie Watkins and Ex-Wife, Tresha Ann Watkins.
