DSPs are the heart of the care our organization delivers. They have compassion, dedication, and patience for the people they care for. Fair pay is deserved for this role. Governor Kathy Hochul along with the New York State Senate and New York State Assembly Majority need to show them the respect and support they earn every day. CP State New York Disability Advocates

Every dollar of disability funding has the power to change lives. Funding supports self-advocates, DSPs, family members, caregivers, and more.

Advocates and families gathered in East Syracuse to call on state leaders to increase funding for disability services.

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, and we're focused on highlighting both the voices of the I/DD community and those who support them. As we kick off a new month, we'd like to remind you that the fight for continued funding continues.

02/27/2026

Strong, consistent state investment is essential to maintaining quality care for people with intellectual & developmental disabilities and their families.

👉 Send a prewritten email to your representatives urging them to support CCOs here: https://www.cmany.net/new-news-and-advocacy #/

As the One-House budgets are developed, we respectfully urge Senator Jamaal T. Bailey, Senator Nathalia Fernandez, Senator Roxanne Persaud, Senator Samra Brouk, Hon. Gustavo Rivera, and Senator Cordell Cleare to consider the restoration of Care Coordination Organizations (CCOs) as an included provider type within the Human Services Targeted Inflationary Increase. We thank you for your continued support and advocacy for the IDD community.

CP State

Funding for the I/DD community is more than just a number in a budget. It contributes to services, programs, DSP support, and more. When legislators debate funding, they need to realize that real people and real lives are at stake.

Our Story

CP of the North Country was created to provide comprehensive, accessible health and human services in the counties of Northern New York to people with most developmental and intellectual disabilities; a diagnosis of cerebral palsy is not necessary to access our services. Our services are designed for people of all income levels but we have a special commitment to low income and medically under-served individuals. Our team is here to help people with developmental disabilities live the fullest lives possible by making sure you and your loved ones thrive in the communities of the North Country as citizens, neighbors, and friends. Our activities and programs include: outdoor recreation, individualized support services, adaptive technology/environmental modifications, hourly respite, individualized residential alternatives, day habilitation, community habilitation, and Medicaid service coordination.
