Freeda P. Shultz

Freeda P. Shultz, age 83, of Canton, passed away on January 2, 2026, at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born on November 18, 1942, in Scio, Ohio, to the late Daniel and Anna Rosalie (Grace) Trushell. Freeda remained a lifelong resident of the Canton area.

Those who knew Freeda will remember her as a kind and gentle person who was always looking for ways to help others. She took great pride in being a devoted wife and loving mother.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Community Church, where she served as assistant Treasurer and also a member of The Bells of Zion.

In addition to her parents, Freeda was preceded in death by her sisters and their spouses; Mildred (Ed) Kraus, Marie (Ralph) Case, Sara (George) Case, MaryAnn (Blair) Riggs, Elsie (Lee) Chambers, Thelma (Bob) Dewire, Sylvia (Harry) Albright and a niece Dottie Schott.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of over 63 years, Kenneth L. Shultz, and her daughters, Lynda L. Shultz and Wendy (Charles) Sidwell; grandchildren, Katelynd (Clancy Ray) Stevenson, Riley Stevenson, and Patience Sidewell; great-grandchildren, Abrahm Ray-Stevenson and Delaney Ray-Stevenson; brothers, Daniel (Hazel) Trushell and Paul (Martha) Trushell; several cousins, nieces and nephews and numerous friends and beloved pets, Muppet & Blackie.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the day of the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. All services will be held at Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home, 4041 Cleveland Avenue South, Canton, Ohio 44707. Burial will follow at Conotton Cemetery.

Patricia L. "Patty" Mosier, age 74, of East Canton, passed away at her home unexpectedly on December 28, 2025. She was born in Canton on May 20, 1951 to Richard and Evelyn McGonagle. Patty graduated from Louisville High School in 1970.

In her early years, Patty really enjoyed showing paint horses on the west coast. She went on to work as a director of education and ultimately retired from Ft. Worth Beauty School in Ft. Worth, Texas after more than 20 dedicated years. She was a woman of faith and a member of Indian Run Christian Church. She loved to go shopping and have sweet treats. Most importantly, she was a very proud mom and grandma to all who were lucky enough to know her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her adopted parents, Aunt Marty and Uncle Mike White; daughter, Jackie (David) Montague; grandchildren, John and James "Mikey" Milton, Kohnie (Justin) Kennedy, Becca (Heath) Dale, Brittany (Billy) Baer, Brianna (Ren) Montague, Brandon, Emily and Macy; brothers, David and Teddy McGonagle; sisters, Linda (Robert) Carrico and Jackie (Rick) Anthony; adopted children, Jenny (Ricky), Sheri (perfect Bob), Greg (Tracy), Zach (Aleshia), Monica (Jason) and Kathy; eight great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Mosier; step-father, Thomas Marino; adopted children, Trudie (Brian) Hampton and six brothers.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Patty's Life is planned for Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Louisville Eagles (306 W. Main St, Louisville, OH 44641). Following the Celebration of Patty's life, her loved ones will travel to Texas so she may rest in peace with her beloved husband Carl.

Ronald Dean Haas

Ronald Dean Haas, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2025. He was born on April 8, 1941, to the late Roy G. and Ethel Maxine Haas.

He was a graduate of Canton South High School. After graduation, he joined the Army National Guard where he served eight faithful years.

Ron was a dedicated Lathe Operator at Timken Roller Bearing for 35 years. Ron also worked as a custodian. He was a proud member of the United Steel Workers of America.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patti. They were married on October 26, 1963 and lived happily together until her passing in 2001.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Quinn and Dean (Leila) Haas; grandchildren, Kelsey Haas, Jordan (Claire) Haas, Mackenzie (Dylan) Still-Pepper, Zoey Haas, Noah Haas and Olivia Haas; great-grandsons, Callan and Finn Haas; sister, Pat (Bob) Scott; and brother-in-law, Scott (Ann) Quinn.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 11am at Fort Lauren's Cemetery (10962 Fort Lauren's Rd NW, Bolivar, OH 44612).

Kathleen "Kat” Fowler, 71, of East Canton, OH, passed away on December 31, 2025. Kathy was born on December 11th, 1954 in East Canton, Ohio to the late Harold and Mildred (Render) Miller.

Kathy worked for many years hanging wallpaper and painting for both commercial and residential projects.

She was an avid lover of the outdoors, she enjoyed camping, fires and being in nature, her backyard was her sanctuary. She adored gardening and canning and was an outstanding cook.

Kathy is preceded in death by her son in-law Larry Moore.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 44 years, John Fowler and four daughters; Nicole (Jayson) Miller, JoJo (Ted) Liebig, Caren Bigler and Wendy (Larry) Moore, granddaughter Isabella (John) Bigler whom she raised since birth. Numerous grand children and great children that were the light of her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Harold Miller, Keith Miller and Sharon (Lonnie) Wright.

Special thank you to her closest friend Jene’ who was constantly by her side to the very end helping to care for her through this journey.

There will be a memorial visitation held at Sanders Funeral Home, 218 Nassau St E. East Canton, OH 44730 on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Victor Clyde Johnson

Victor Clyde Johnson, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. He was born on October 30, 1940, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Everett Clyde and Ruth Janet (Mowery) Johnson. A lifelong resident of Canton, Victor, was deeply proud of his community and dedicated his life to serving it.

Victor was a graduate of Timken Vocational High School. He was a devoted and faithful member of Eden Church of the Brethren. Following his graduation from the police academy, he joined the Canton Police Department, where he honorably served for 30 years as a police officer (1964-1994). In recognition of his commitment and service, he was awarded Police Bluecoat of the Year in 1980. Those who knew Victor recognized him as one of Canton’s finest—an officer who consistently went above and beyond to help others.

Outside of his service, Victor enjoyed fishing and cherished time spent with his nephews on Mogadore Reservoir and Sippo Lake. These moments brought him great joy and lasting memories.

In addition to his parents, Victor was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanne (Franz) Johnson; his sisters, Anna Cook and Patricia Shriver; and his brother, Carl Johnson.

He is survived by his beloved and dedicated daughter, Deborah Kae Johnson; his nieces and nephews, Janet Payne, Bill (Martha) Cook, Alex (Kasey) Cook and Andy Cook, Trudi and Don Whaley, Chuck Shriver, and Carl Johnson Jr.; and his beloved cat, George.

Friends and family may call on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Eden Church of the Brethren, 4437 Richville Drive SW, Canton, Ohio 44706. A Fraternal Order of Police service will lead off Victor’s funeral service at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Jamie Spencer officiating. Immediately following Victor will be laid to rest beside his wife, Joanne, at Eden Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Eden Church of the Brethren at the address listed above or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, both of which held a special place in Victor’s heart.

Martha Simon, 88, of Bolivar, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2025. Born in Marietta, Ohio to the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Seyerle) Carver, Martha was a lifelong educator, nurse, and entrepreneur.

A dedicated student of healthcare, Martha received her nursing diploma from Massillon City Hospital, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Akron, and a Master of Education from Kent State University. Her 32-year career in nursing leadership and various medical organizations ended at Mercy Medical Center and was defined by her top-tier clinical expertise and a passion for mentorship. She left her work life to dedicate her time more fully to caring for her husband, Tom, the love of her life. The two became prominent local business owners, operating the family rentals, Simon’s Antiques and Wilkshire Banquet Center.

To her grandchildren, she was "Goggy," the woman who could fix anything and always reminded them that "it will all come out in the wash." Her days were often spent building intricate dollhouses which were publicly displayed and admired by all who saw them.

Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Simon; along with her nine brothers and sisters, Betty, Irvin, Edward, David, Clarence, Richard, Alberta, Lloyd, and Larry.

She leaves behind a large, devoted family: her children, Thomas (Tina) Simon Jr., Steve Simon, and Cindy (Craig) Steffl; nine grandchildren, Derrick, Brock, Dalton, Anna Grace, Joseph, Rachel, Chase, Cody, and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Wesley, C**t, Easton, Luke, Harper, Ellie and Tate.

Known for her selfless nature and industrious spirit, Martha’s greatest joys were her family and her faith. She was a woman of bold conviction, generosity, and compassion.

Per Martha’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held for the family at Melscheimer Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest by her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers and to honor her spirit of giving, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, an organization that reflects Martha’s lifelong commitment to serving the Lord and helping those in need.

James L. Ferguson, age 72, of Massillon, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 19, 2025. He was born on February 19, 1953, in North Canton, Ohio, to the late Kermit and Dona Marie (Floom) Ferguson.

James proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he spent his working years as a truck driver, a career he took great pride in. He loved fishing, classic cars and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Alishia Ferguson (Donovan Pinder); sons Dwayne and James Miller and Josh Ferguson; his cherished grandchildren Brennan, Isaac, Aeverie, Kyler and Janel who will continue to carry his memory forward.

Connie S. Sherrard, age 67, passed away unexpectedly on December 20, 2025 at Altercare of Nobles Pond in Canton, OH. She was born on August 28, 1958 in Canton, Ohio to Richard Allen Wells and Donna Elaine (Bowser) Wells.

Connie was a 1976 East Canton High School Graduate. She was known to greet you with a smile at the deli department at Fisher’s Foods in Canton with over 20 years of serving her customers.

She previously attended Faith Family Church. Connie was very dedicated to her faith and to God, she was a passionate Christian.

Connie enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing cards and reading. She loved to spend time with her family especially being ornery with her nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her father Richard “Dick” A. Wells; daughter, Elizabeth Sherrard and brother Richard Wells.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters; Sarah Sherrard and Rachel Sherrard; sons, Philip Sherrard, Brett Sherrard, and Aaron Sherrard; granddaughter, Camille Card; sisters, Vicki (Wendell) Davis, Karen (Tom) Hammond, Patie (Melvin) George, Donna Baker, Brenda Willison, Renee Wells; brother, Jason (Karen) Wells and many nieces and nephews.

Richard Gayle Bellamy

Richard Gayle Bellamy, age 83, of East Canton, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025. He was born on June 7, 1942, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Stewart and Gladys (Hartline) Bellamy. A lifelong resident of the East Canton community, he was known to most simply as “Gayle.”

Gayle was a man of many talents and proudly spent his career with the Timken Company, where he worked as an Apprentice instructor before retiring. In addition to his professional life, he was a farmer who deeply loved his community and the many friendships he formed over a lifetime. Later in life, he continued his service to the community by working for the Osnaburg Township Cemetery Department.

He had a wide range of passions, including trap shooting, and shot in the Tri-County Trap League, as well as the Brown Township and Mapleton Gun Clubs. He cherished time spent with his wife gem hunting prior to her passing. He also liked boating and fishing. A natural adventurer, Gayle lived his life with curiosity and enthusiasm.

Above all, besides his family, Gayle’s greatest passion was flying. As a pilot, he found joy in being just a little closer to the Heavens, he was a proud member of the Flying Farmers Association and the Minerva Flying Association.

Gayle is proceeded in death by parents and his wife Mary Ann (Baird) Bellamy on September 16, 2005.

Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and William Lloyd of East Canton; his brother James (Sandy) Bellamy and his dog “Blue”.

Friends and family may call on Monday, December 22, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Home and on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Tim Prince officiating. Following his funeral he will be laid to rest at Mapleton Cemetery.
