Hearing loss can sneak up on you! It’s a fact that hearing changes can occur as we age but many times the change is gradual and you may not realize it's happening. So how do you know if you need to have a hearing test?
Do you often ask others to repeat themselves?
Do other people say your TV or radio is too loud?
Do you have difficulty understanding conversation when in noisy places?
Do other people seem to mumble?
Is it difficult to follow group conversations?
Do you have ringing in your ears?
Do you find yourself guessing at what people are saying?
If you answered yes to two or more of these questions, you should definitely get your hearing tested. Even if you did not answer yes, it is always a good idea to have a baseline hearing test on record. Much like vision care, hearing should be evaluated annually if you have a hearing loss.
In most cases, hearing tests are covered by your insurance and most Medicare Advantage Plans have some sort of hearing benefit. It is always best to see an Audiologist for your hearing needs, as they are extensively trained in detecting and treating hearing loss. Don’t neglect your hearing. Good hearing health is vital to general health and well being. Hearing keeps you connected and engaged with your community and loved ones. Healthy Hearing is Healthy Living!
