Pathway Caring For Children

Pathway Caring For Children Pathway Caring for Children's mission is to help children and families realize the possibilities of through foster care, adoption, and counseling.

The staff members, volunteers, and foster parents of Pathway seek to make real seven basic ideals in the lives of the children who come to us. Most important, we love and care for each youth individually. We recognize them as persons and teach them to respect themselves and others; provide them with security of knowing that we are here for them; help them find the paths of success in school, work and social relationships; encourage them in the assumption of responsibility for themselves and their actions; and become personally involved with them in their struggle for meaning and purpose in life.

We are thankful for the ongoing support of the Sisters of Charity Foundation. Their funding supported Pathway prevention programs that help support students’ self-regulation, healthy decision making, positive friendships, and some heavier topics like substance use and violence prevention.

We are very grateful for community partners like The Junkluggers for their generosity in supporting Pathway kids and families!

Back in February, we kicked off a special initiative: donate $10 from every pickup to our friends at Pathway Caring For Children! By the end of March, and 181 pickups later, we were thrilled to hand over $1,810 to help foster families and kids in our community. We even got to stop by their offices and meet the amazing team behind the work - they’re truly inspiring! Supporting such an incredible cause was an honor, and we’re proud to do our part! 🤝 🚛 ♻️

One of our Pathway school-based therapists used a mini steel drum to help a student explore and express their emotions through music 🎶

The student shared, “It’s a fun way to talk about my feelings.” 💙

At Pathway, we’re always finding creative, meaningful ways to help kids feel seen, heard, and understood. Our school-based therapists and case managers are on site, in the schools every day. They are part of school meetings and schedules and can engage with students where and when they need it.

Pathway’s work goes beyond addressing immediate behavioral concerns. It’s about building relationships, fostering growth, and walking alongside students during some of the most formative years of their lives.

Next up we thank Becky McCullough who has been with Pathway for 6 years as a school-based therapist in Fairless schools.

Becky shared, "I became a social worker to help people. I love working with students to help them realize they are not their diagnosis or their past trauma, they are not the mistakes they have made. One of my most valuable memories was when a student I had been helping work through past trauma told me, “I’m proud of myself for all the things I’ve overcome. Thanks for not giving up on me.”

Thank you, Becky for always being willing to help!

💙Megan Garrett is a foster care case manager whose journey with Pathway began as an intern in 2012. After serving in multiple roles through 2022, she returned in January 2025—bringing with her a deep passion for walking alongside children and families.

Here’s what Pathway means to Megan:

"At Pathway, the heart of what we do is presence. We walk alongside children and families during seasons that are often uncertain and overwhelming, offering stability, advocacy, and care when it matters most. The impact of this work isn’t found in a single moment, but in the consistency of showing up day after day with compassion, adaptability, and grace.

I am grateful to be part of a group of people who lead with both professionalism and heart. The collaboration across Pathway, and especially within foster care, creates an environment where children are prioritized, supported, and treated with dignity, and where families are met with care and intention as they navigate complex circumstances."

Thank you, Megan, for the difference you make every day!

"The thing that keeps me motivated to pursue this career in social work is the fact that the work we do changes lives for the better. I find great purpose and meaning in my job, and the overall work that we do at Pathway, and that is something that I want to be a part of. "

Thank you, Kirsten for your dedication to Pathway families!

Our Story

Founded in 1973 by Jim and Velma Bridges Pathway Caring for Children is a private, non-profit social service agency. Our mission is to empower children and families to realize their potential and achieve the possibilities of their lives through innovative mental health, foster care, and adoption services.

The staff members, volunteers, and foster parents of Pathway seek to make real seven basic ideals in the lives of the children who come to us. Most important, we love and care for each youth individually.
