Robert H. Power
In 1987 Robert Power and his wife Rebecca purchased ranch property in East Texas and founded Sundown Ranch, a residential drug and alcohol treatment center for adolescents and young adults, where his passion and hands-on involvement contributed greatly to its national recognition for success in helping youth overcome substance abuse and related issues.
Over the course of his long years of public service in a number of varied careers, Bob Power touched many lives and provided help and hope for recipients of his generosity across a broad spectrum of society. From the early days of his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Dallas County, to his private law practice, where he worked into his late seventies, he saw the devastating effects of substance abuse with individuals and their families. He was acutely aware of a lack of residential treatment programs catering specifically to young people. In October, 1987, shortly after the acquisition of the unique property, the Power family opened Sundown Ranch and set upon the mission of helping clients and their families battle substance abuse. The business has operated continuously since its opening and the Power family continues to own and operate the business today.
