Hi, I’m Rachel Pecora!

I’m a licensed massage therapist and certified in the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release approach.

Since 2007, I’ve been helping people feel better in their bodies, but in 2018, I transitioned my practice entirely to myofascial release and here’s why.

For years, I struggled with chronic neck and shoulder pain. I tried everything, but nothing seemed to make a lasting difference.

Then I discovered myofascial release. This approach was a gamechanger for me!

Not only did MFR help me find relief, but it also opened my eyes to a deeper understanding of how our bodies heal.

It’s not about a quick fix but it’s about restoring balance, releasing tension, and giving your body what it needs to thrive.

Today I help people just like you navigate chronic pain, stress, stiffness, arthritis, post-surgery recovery, and all the challenges that life throws at our bodies.

Let me show you how MFR can be a step toward living your best life. 🌟

Spring is here, and with it comes the return of yard work! As nature wakes from its winter slumber, you might feel tension creeping in as you clean flower beds, spread mulch, or tackle those outdoor projects.

Spending more time bent over and using muscles that have been resting all winter can leave your back feeling stiff and achy.

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone! Myofascial release is the perfect way to release that lingering tension, restore mobility, and help you go into the season feeling refreshed and ready for all spring has to offer!

I’d recommend coming in for a session before your body is screaming for attention and we can create a plan to make seasonal work more fun!

I have appointment times soon and you can book your appointment online today!

I was thinking back to my very first myofascial release session. I had just taken my first myofascial class on technique and didn’t know too much about the work or what to expect but I made my first appointment anyway. I dealt with neck and shoulder pain for many years and was really hoping I would be “fixed” after my first treatment.

I can remember not feeling much during treatment and spent most of the session thinking “what the heck are we doing?” I really didn’t get the point.

When I finished my appointment the therapist gave me tips to do self care at home and I went on my way.

I drove home questioning the treatment and couldn't understand why I wasn’t better after one treatment. I was skeptical and thought “why didn’t this work?”

What I didn’t learn from my therapist was that getting better is a process and it takes time.
Myofascial release works by chipping away at an iceberg or peeling back layers of an onion.

That first session may not have felt like much, but it was the pebble that started an avalanche. I’m so glad I didn’t give up because over time, I found relief I never thought possible!

If you’re feeling unsure after your first session or wondering why you’re not “fixed” yet, remember it takes time!

The pain or tension didn’t start overnight. Each session builds on the last and leads you closer to the relief you deserve.

Ready to start your journey or keep building on your progress? Let’s work together to peel back those layers.

An overstimulated body benefits from less pressure and more time. When your body is overstimulated, applying deep pressure can increase stress and activate the fight-or-flight response, keeping you stuck in the same cycle.

By starting with gentle techniques and gradually working your way up to deeper pressure over time, your body has the chance to adjust and respond more effectively. Remember, more pressure doesn’t always mean better results!

Patience and consistency are key to achieving lasting relief.

In today’s fast paced world, everything is about doing more. You have to hurry to go to work and hurry to the store and hurry to get the kids to sports, etc. Everything is at such a high speed pace, it's no wonder we’re all burned out.

A big part of MFR comes from doing the opposite by quieting down and learning to feel. It comes from listening with all of your senses vs just feeling. WE listen with our peripheral. I think learning to be centered changes how I approach the world. It’s a similar feeling when in deep meditation or prayer. I feel calm and quiet. I have great insights when I am working. Some of my most creative moments come from when I am centered because the energy is flowing through me and I am able to receive higher wisdom. Approaching the world from a centered and grounded place allows me to make decisions from wholeness vs fear.

This is for everyone if we pause, breathe, and learn to really listen.

Some tips to center and ground yourself:
-Take a few slow deep breaths with the exhale longer than the inhale
-Body scan to notice what sensations are present
-Mindful walking by feeling each foot step on the ground
-Affirmations: I am connected to my body or I feel calm and at peace

My favorite: to feel my feet on the ground or my butt on the chair and then to feel both at the same time. When I focus on both I am instantly drawn back into my body.

How do you stay grounded?

Thank you for the review!

Myofascial release is such a fun tool because it meets each person exactly where they are.

Whether you’re dealing with pain, stress, or just feeling stuck, it helps your body unlock its natural ability to heal and thrive.

It’s always amazing to see clients walk away feeling lighter, freer, and more connected to themselves.

Most of us don’t know what’s possible or what our bodies are truly capable of.

I know you’ve already tried so many things to manage your pain, and it can feel scary to walk down another path without knowing what the outcome will be.

Before I found Myofascial Release, I used to just hope I’d wake up one day and my pain would be gone.

I didn’t believe it was possible to feel any different.

But now I know better—and I want you to know this:

I will hold the belief for YOU that you can feel better… until you can believe it for yourself.

✨ Book your appointment today and find out how great you can feel:

When I broke my thumb and had surgery last year, I thought I understood what recovery would be like.

Turns out, scar tissue has a way of humbling you.

I just got back from an MFR intensive in Illinois. I had 11 hours of treatment in 4 days. It reminded me that healing isn't just about the injury. It's about what the body holds onto, even after the pain fades.

And wow my body had a lot to say.

Scar tissue has a sneaky way of clinging to the surrounding fascia and pulling on everything nearby. In my case, the scarring in my hand was tugging all the way into my neck, shoulder, and chest. That kind of restriction doesn't just show up during a workout or while doing something big. It shows up in everyday moments like how you reach, how you move, how you feel in your body.

While an hour of treatment is awesome, I think the value of getting multiple treatments close together really helps you to go deeper into your healing process.

A lot goes on in our daily life so sometimes we don't see the changes as quickly. With more sessions you stay in the healing zone longer and can see the changes from day to day.

If you're living with layers of tension or restriction, I want to encourage you to keep getting treatment. Healing takes time, but it's worth committing to. Myofascial release helps create space in your body so you can move more freely.

If you're interested in more treatment closer together, I think it's a great idea! Think about doubling up sessions, coming in several times a week or even creating your own immersive/intensive! 💫
