And starting next Wednesday the 10th at 7:30pm is women's only Jiu-jitsu with coach

Congratulations Mohammed. Mohammed killed it. Went out there and took it to his opponent right away, got the double leg. Controled his opponent, delivered some ground and pound. The guy gave up his back. Mohammed flatened him out softened him up with with some strikes then got under his chin and finished him with a rear naked choke in round one. Way to represent Mohammed. 🔥

Today's Torch Junior Spotlight is on
Jonah Edwards, age 14/ Homeschooled/Dual Enrolled at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College

Jonah's family has noticed that
TORCH has impacted Jonah in a positive way by giving him a passion and drive for a sport that he is motivated by. He accomplishes all of his tasks at home so that he can be at the gym as much as possible. He is waking up at 6 AM on his own to go to the morning classes to train. This self- motivation has come as he has developed a love for the sport.

Physically, Jonah has gotten much stronger, and his endurance has increased.

Mentally, Jonah has sharpened his technique, is eager to learn new skills, and can often be seen smiling on the mat as he is contemplating his next strategic move - quite literally 4-d chess.

Training has spilled over into everyday life for Jonah as he has taken ownership of the goals he has set for himself in life. The love of this sport has given him a drive and focus so that he sets realistic goals and achieves them, while also constantly pushing himself to do better and grow as a student in all aspects of life.

Jonah and his family would absolutely recommend TORCH to others. "TORCH has been a blessing to us. Jonah has blossomed under the coaching at Torch. They pour into him by giving him personalized instruction and coaching that meets him where he is but also challenges him."

We won alot and learned alot on our losses. Taking that knowledge back to the mats on Monday. 🔥 I am super proud of everyone's wins and their attitudes in their losses.

The Torch Junior Spotlight is on Novella Edwards!

Novella is 16 years old & homeschooled.

Personally, training at Torch has made Novella feel safe when she is out and about. She is known as the "protector" among her friend group. She advocates for the importance of self-defense of young women and girls.

Physically, Novella has been positively impacted by TORCH by increasing her focus for school-based activities and increasing her endurance, stamina, and strength.

Mentally, Novella has been positively impacted by TORCH by pushing through difficult things, such as when she chose to move up an age category and weight category in order to compete. In realizing how skilled this opponent was, most people may have cowered and given up, but Novella did not submit and held on for all three rounds. She may not have won the match, but she never gave up.

Yes, the lesson mentioned above is a huge one, life is not easy, and we are often met with Goliaths. Simply because someone is smarter or more skilled than us doesn't mean we can give up on a task. Even Novella's family have noticed how this has carried over into other areas of her life that she has worked tremendously hard in.
