Fun Fact Friday: Can You Really Feel Rain in Your Joints? 🌧️
You know that person who says they can predict rain because their knee starts aching? They're not making it up!
THE SCIENCE:
When barometric pressure drops before a storm, it can cause tissues in your body to expand slightly. For people with arthritis or chronic pain conditions, this expansion can increase pressure on nerves and joints, leading to more pain.
Other weather factors that can affect pain:
🌡️ Temperature changes (especially cold weather)
💧 Humidity levels
🌪️ Changes in atmospheric pressure
While we can't control the weather, we CAN help you manage weather-related pain flares! If you notice your pain follows weather patterns, mention it to Dr. Ram during your next visit.
