Happy 130th birthday to chiropractic care! 🎉
In 1895, a Canadian-born healer named Dr. Daniel David Palmer performed what would become the first-ever chiropractic adjustment in Davenport, Iowa. The recipient? A janitor named Harvey Lillard who had lost his hearing 17 years prior. After that spinal adjustment, Lillard reported his hearing had been restored, and the world of natural healing was changed forever.
Dr. Palmer believed that misalignments of the spine (subluxations) interfered with the body’s innate ability to heal itself. He founded the Palmer School of Chiropractic, launching a new health profession rooted in restoring balance, nervous system flow, and the body’s own intelligence.
Over the last 130 years, chiropractic has grown from one man’s vision to a worldwide holistic healthcare movement, helping millions find relief from pain, reduce stress, improve mobility, and elevate their overall wellness—without drugs or surgery.
Here’s to every spine we’ve adjusted, every life chiropractic has helped transform, and the generations of wellness still to come. 💚
