That’s why we’re proud to share that Sgt. Manny Zapeta of Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services has been named Firefighter of the Year by Thomas M. Brady American Legion Post 45.

Sgt. Zapeta was recognized by Post Commander Raymond Rollins and National Commander Dan Wiley, who visited Post 45 during his tour of Georgia. Commander Wiley travels across the country to listen to veterans and stay connected to the communities they continue to serve, making this recognition even more meaningful.

His leadership, professionalism, and commitment to others reflect the very best of our mission and the values we stand for. As Fire Chief Eddie Robinson shared, Sgt. Zapeta represents the very best of our community.

We’re grateful to The American Legion, the nation’s largest veterans organization, for continuing to recognize those who serve beyond themselves.

Georgia just named him Firefighter of the Year … we are lucky to work beside him at Station Aid. Some wins just hit different and this is one of them. 🚨✨

We’re incredibly proud to share that our very own hydration hero, Sgt. Manny Zapeta, has been named the American Legion’s 2026 Georgia Firefighter of the Year… and is now in the running for National Firefighter of the Year.

If you’ve met Manny at Station Aid, you already know this isn’t surprising.

He shows up the same way here as he does on the job. Calm. Steady. Genuine. The kind of person you instantly trust with your care.

Behind the scenes, he’s served this community through countless calls, long nights, and moments most people will never see. And still shows up to help people feel better on their worst days… whether that’s in the field or inside our walls.

This recognition isn’t just about one moment. It’s about years of service, sacrifice, and choosing to keep showing up.
