May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to pause, reflect, and recognize that mental health is just as important as physical health.
Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act. It influences how we handle stress, connect with others, and make decisions in our daily lives. Yet so many people struggle in silence.
This month is about:
Breaking the stigma around mental health.
Encouraging open conversations.
Supporting those who are struggling.
Reminding ourselves that it’s okay to ask for help.
đź’š You are not alone.
đź’š Your feelings are valid.
đź’š Healing is possible.

Gentle Reminders
It’s okay to not be okay.
Rest is productive.
You don’t have to carry everything by yourself.
Small steps still count.
Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Child abuse isn’t always loud.
It doesn’t always look like bruises you can point to.

Sometimes it’s the quiet shift.
A kid who suddenly doesn’t want to go somewhere they used to love.
The way they get a little too quiet around certain people.
New fears they can’t explain.
Changes in sleep, behavior, or how they react to touch.

It’s easy to miss when you’re not looking for it,
and that’s the scary part.

Child abuse prevention month isn’t just about awareness…
it’s about paying attention.

Knowing who your kids are around.
not just their names — but their energy, their access, their role in your child’s life.

It’s about listening the first time your child says something feels off.
Even if it seems small.
Even if it doesn’t fully make sense yet.
Even if it’s inconvenient.

Because kids don’t always have the words to explain what’s happening,
but they will show you… if you’re willing to see it.

Trust your gut.
and more importantly, teach your kids to trust theirs.

At the Center for Prevention of Abuse, we believe you.

April is recognized nationally as both Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Awareness Month. We know it can be difficult to talk about our lived experiences surrounding abuse and assault. That’s why CFPA is here: to start the conversation.

We are here, even when it’s hard to talk. When you’re ready, so are we.

And we believe you.

🧩 World Autism Awareness Day 🧩
Today, we honor and celebrate neurodiversity—recognizing that every individual experiences and interacts with the world in their own unique and meaningful way.
As a social worker, I have the privilege of working alongside individuals and families navigating autism, and I am continually inspired by their strength, resilience, and authenticity. Autism is not something to be “fixed,” but understood, supported, and embraced.
Let’s move beyond awareness and toward acceptance, inclusion, and advocacy—creating spaces where individuals on the autism spectrum feel seen, valued, and supported for who they are.
đź’™ Listen without judgment
đź’™ Support without assumptions
đź’™ Advocate for inclusive communities
Together, we can build a world that honors all minds.

Our problems don’t need more problems.

Whatever you’re carrying--you don’t have to carry it alone

Life isn’t easy. The pressures on adults are real: working jobs, paying bills, managing personal relationships, and caring for ourselves and our family. It’s never just one thing.

Alcohol, ci******es, ma*****na, prescriptions, and other drugs are sometimes used to relieve that pressure. If you’re looking for alternatives, The Canton Family YMCA is here to help you take small steps to move forward, from wherever you are now.
