Vickie Sue Hardaway

Vickie Sue Hardaway, 66, of Canyon, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026. Memorial services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Harvest Connexion Church in Amarillo with Curtis House, pastor, officiating.

Vickie was born on November 21, 1959 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Bill and Virginia (King) McCaslan. She was a graduate of Shattuck High School and moved to Canyon in 1978 when her daughter, Nicole, was born. She served as a customer service supervisor at Southwest Airlines for 16 years, earning a reputation for both her exceptional job performance and her kindness and compassion.

Vickie fell in love with a cowboy, Bill Hardaway, and they spent 37 years building a beautiful life together, 34 of those after they were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 3, 1991. She was an avid reader, her favorite series being “Left Behind,” which she read multiple times. She passed her passion for reading on to her daughter, Nicole. In the last few years, her love for watching football shifted to a new love...the LA Dodgers, in which she stayed remarkably up to date on facts and statistics. Her greatest joy, however, was her grandchildren. She adored being a Mimi and was known to say, “Being a grandparent is God’s gift for being a parent.” And she meant every word. Her three grandchildren were her pride, her joy, and the light that carried her through even the hardest days.

Vickie attended Harvest Connexion Church until her health prevented it.

Vickie is preceded in death by a daughter, Amber Tomlinson, her parents, and her in-laws, John and Emma Hardaway.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Hardaway of Canyon; her daughter, Nicole Johnston and husband, David of Canyon; her three grandchildren, McKayla, Lawson, and Keely Johnston; two brothers, Kenny McCasland and Peggy of Cushing, OK and Kyle McCaslan of Joplin, MO; and her sister-in-law, Ann Hardaway of Albuquerque, NM.

Jimmie Carol Hyatt Glenn

Jimmie Carol Hyatt Glenn, 89, of Canyon, passed away just before dawn on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Canyon with Trey Glenn, Jimmie’s grandson, officiating. Private family interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery Saturday morning.

Jimmie was born on May 31, 1936 in Dimmitt, Texas to Homer “Zeke” and Jennie (Wright) Hyatt. Jimmie and her two younger brothers spent most of their childhood years in Dimmitt with a few early years in Amarillo. In both towns, her father owned and operated “Fillin’ Stations” and her mother worked as a telephone operator. Jimmie’s parents both worked long, hard hours to make a living while raising three children. Her father often worked 7 days a week while her mother, when given a rare opportunity to get away from the switchboard, cooked family meals and made most of the clothes that her children wore to school.

Jimmie, in typical first-born fashion, was naturally a get-it-done, responsible young lady. Early on, she found herself with hardworking parents who could not always take her to church, so she somehow found her way to Sunday School and church on her own as a youngster while living in Amarillo. Soon, a keenly aware woman from church offered and began giving Jimmie rides to and from church. Soon after, Jimmie dedicated her life to Christ and ensured her two younger brothers attended church with her every Sunday.

After the family returned to Dimmitt, Jimmie began excelling in everything she chose to participate in (all the while, she joined her mother working the switchboard as an employee at the local telephone company) academics, cheerleading, you name it, she was leading the way. She became the best roller skater in the entire area. So much so, she was invited to be a part of a professional Roller Derby League. However, she was forced to decline the offer as her high school basketball coach frowned upon it. Basketball was big in Dimmitt and in Texas, of course, and Jimmie was a 2-year starter for The Bobbies. During her junior and senior years, they won back-to-back girls’ basketball Texas state championships.

Jimmie graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1955. Despite saying goodbye to high school, she kept her eye on her high school sweetheart Clinton Glenn. They continued dating and soon began talking marriage. Jimmie, as crazy as she was about Clinton, knew in her heart that God wanted her to marry an equally yoked, Christian life partner and she was very transparent to Clinton about it as she shared her faith with him. Within the first year out of high school, Clinton told her he was ready to accept Jesus as his Savior as God had used Jimmie to lead Clinton to Christ.

The two married in Dimmitt on April Fool’s Day, Sunday, April 1, 1956. It was also Easter Sunday. They were married a remarkable 67 years. Jimmie quickly became a supportive wife of a farmer living near Hereford, Texas. It was there where they had their three children - Brenda (1957), Cheri (1959) and Ross (1962).

In 1963, Clinton and Jimmie moved their young family to Randall County. They built a new brick home along FM 2219 near two sections of land that Clinton had leased to farm. It was just a few years later that they joined FBC Canyon.

While juggling the home cooked meals, grocery shopping and laundry, Jimmie made sure her kids were able to participate in school and many extra-curricular activities. More than anything, she volunteered as a children’s and youth ministry leader at First Baptist Church of Canyon alongside all 3 kids, namely with Acteens and G.A.’s.

Jimmie had exceptional taste and vision when it came to design. She actually drew the plans for the “in town” home they built in 1974. She decorated the country French house herself. From the day they moved in this house, it was the only home Clinton and Jimmie lived in until the Lord called them to His own. This house, this home, is more than special to all of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jimmie loved decorating so much that she received the designation as an Interior Decorator and for many years owned and operated her own business making homes in many Panhandle counties beautiful. She also loved fashion as a Color Me Beautiful consultant helping make women more beautiful and confident with color and makeup.

Another of Jimmie’s loves was playing bridge. She was a sharp and competitive bridge player for nearly 70 years. Her bridge playing was highlighted by playing most of those years with Clinton and, over the last couple of decades, playing with two different women’s clubs. She loved “the girls” she gathered with on a monthly basis to play bridge.

For many years, her grandchildren had no bigger fan than their Gigi. Whether it was performing on stage or participating on the field or court, she’d be front and center. As far as Gigi was concerned, her grandchildren could do no wrong …. they were the best in anything they were part of. That was evident each Christmas where she’d spoil her kids and other family members.

Jimmie is preceded in death by her parents, Homer “Zeke” and Jennie Hyatt, her sister, Dorothy Jack Hyatt, brothers, Berle Hyatt and Jerry Hyatt, her husband of 67 years, Clinton Glenn, her daughter, Cheri Reinert, and son-in-law, Ron Reinert.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Rusten and husband, Johnny of Lubbock; her son, Ross Glenn and wife, Stacy of Canyon; her grandchildren, Lissabeth Anglin and husband, Shawn, Landon Reinbold, Lauren Rusten, Mason Reinbold and wife, Brittany, Layne Cooper and husband, Justin, Trey Glenn and wife, Katie, Trevor Glenn and wife, Bethany, and Taryn Glenn; her great grandchildren, Knox Anglin, Liv Anglin, Hunter Reinbold, Lucy Anglin, Hayden Kate Cooper, Blair Reinbold, Nolan Cooper, Myles Reinbold, Charlotte Glenn, Crosby Cooper, Mia Glenn, and Henry Clinton Glenn.

The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Canyon, 1717 4th Ave, Canyon, TX 79015 or to The Make A Wish Foundation, 2707 Wolflin Ave, PMB 292, Amarillo, TX 79109.

Marvin Lee "M.L." McGehee, II

Marvin Lee “M.L.” McGehee, II, 81, was called home on February 18, 2026, in Amarillo, TX. While his family grieves his passing, they find so much joy in the 81 years of stories, laughter, and friendship he left behind.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Wayside Community Church with Byron Williamson and Larry Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Wayside Cemetery.

Born on October 18, 1944, in Norfolk, Virginia, M.L. grew up in Happy, Texas, alongside his parents, M.I. “Kotton” and Alice McGehee, and his younger sister, Dixie. A 1963 graduate of Happy High School, M.L. went on to Texas Tech University. He played football for the Red Raiders and roped for the Texas Tech Rodeo Team.

After earning his degree in Ag Business, M.L. married Peggy Johnson in 1972. They settled on the family ranch at Wayside, Texas. It was there that they raised their two children, Trey and Ashley. He was a devoted father who covered his children in prayer throughout their lives.

M.L. was a man of many hats. While working on the ranch, he also dedicated 20 years to teaching Ag. He took great pride in "stomping out ignorance" as he educated and mentored his students with a mix of love and wisdom. His drive to help others led him to earn his pilot’s license, become a paramedic, and graduate from the first Wayside EMS class. Even after he hung up the uniform, M.L. never quite retired from the medical field in his own mind; to his very last day, he was convinced he could diagnose just about any ailment you brought to him—whether you asked for his opinion or not.

Above all, M.L. possessed a true servant’s heart and a remarkably forgiving spirit. He didn't just attend church; he lived out the gospel through his generosity and his willingness to give anyone a second chance. Though M.L. faced several health struggles throughout his life, his resilience was bolstered by the love of his family. In 2009, he was lovingly nursed back to health by his little sister, Dixie. Trey would be remiss not to acknowledge that her tireless care quite literally saved his father’s life, giving the family many more cherished years together.

A lifelong and faithful member of the First Community Church, M.L. served his community not only in the pews but also as a lay pastor. He was a fixture at the Happy Elevator, coffee shops around Amarillo, and could often be found at his favorite spot, The Golden Light on 6th Street. He spent countless hours trading stories and “solving the world’s problems” over breakfast or a burger. M.L. loved his lifelong friends and lived for his annual Happy Alumni fishing trips to Eagle Nest, NM and often crowned himself Alumni Champion.

M.L. held a special place in his heart for a select group of Trey’s friends from Happy. Whether they were playing football, camping, working cattle, hauling hay, or traveling to track meets, some of M.L.’s favorite times were retelling those stories years later. Their "payment" for a hard day's work was always the same: M.L.’s famous homemade mashed potatoes and chicken-fried steak—strictly all-you-can-eat.

Nothing, however, made him more proud than his grandchildren. He was their biggest fan, constantly marveling at the humans they had become and how well they were all doing in life. If it was your birthday, you could count on your phone ringing at the crack of dawn with Granddad on the other end, singing his heart out in his famous one-tone voice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kotton and Alice McGehee.

M.L. is survived by his son, Trey McGehee (wife, Danielle) of Amarillo; and his daughter, Ashley Leger (husband, Mark) of Clifton, Texas; grandchildren, Treyson McGehee of Canyon, Taos McGehee of Amarillo, Zoe Windham of Waco, Zander Windham of Waco, Ella Joy Leger of Clifton, Scout Welps of Amarillo, and Lance Welps of Dumas; and great-grandson, Cal.

The family suggests memorials be to Wayside Emergency Team, PO Box 131, Wayside, TX 79094 or to the Wayside Community Church, PO Box 154, Wayside, TX 79094.
