Update on Mimi's 3 week post-op.
What does a turtle and Debbie's GI tract have in common? They're both slow. Delayed gastric emptying, which is a tricky issue with Whipple procedures (10% of cases) and now your favorite bee lady is dealing with it right now. We are told the stomach is asleep after a surgery like this.

She went in for a three week checkup last Monday the 22nd and not feeling the best. They admitted her to the hospital and had to pump the stomach, lots of crud came out and she felt much better. Since then she started TPN which is intravenous nutrients and will probably be getting fed through a tube for the next few weeks. We are taking the information as it comes and keeping a positive attitude. Prayers are welcomed and words of encouragement help like you wouldn't believe. Quick Update on Debbie's Journey

Hey everyone,

Let me see if I can give you a sense of what our family is experiencing.

Picture this, sitting down in the dentist chair and opening your mouth. You feel a poke *OUCH- OUCH* as they numb you up. That really sucked....but wait a minute, here comes the EXTRACTIONS!

Or maybe, you have been walking around growing a baby in your stomach for 40 weeks. A beautiful experience I'm told, but every step along the way has been increasing with discomfort. And now here comes the real hard work of getting this baby out!

Our mom has endured 7 months of pokes, chemicals, and radioactive laser beams. As we approach this next week, everything behind us seems like a walk in the park compared to the surgery that is planned.

In 8 days, on Tuesday, July 2nd, Debbie will undergo major surgery. We're all hopeful for a clean border around the tumor and that she'll be able to keep her spleen. Please, if you can, reserve some quiet time on your calendar that day to keep Debbie, our family, and her surgeons in your thoughts.

In other news, Grandma Carol has moved out of Deb and Dan's place and is now happily settled at Brad and Crystal's. She's enjoying loving phone calls on her new cell phone, playing solitaire, and crafting. Prayers answered for Grandma social needs, her next stop will be Shellpoint Village in July! Amazing!

Your generous contributions have helped cover bills and living costs up to this point, but funds have run out. Dearest friends and family,
We are 4 ½ months into a journey that no one expected, least of all the person that is at the forefront of it all.
My (our) dearest Deb has been the poster child for how to handle adversity. With few exceptions Deb continues to
light up everyone's life with her Faith, Hope, Perseverance, and unwavering strength against this dreaded monster.

Deb has just received the 7th of her 8 chemo treatments. The schedule is for her to receive her final treatment on
Monday April 29th, with the aforementioned "Juice Box" to be removed for the final time on Wednesday May 1.

After meeting with the Surgical Oncologist at the Moffitt Cancer Center on Thursday April 11, Deb was hit with yet another curve ball.
Although, in the surgeon's words, we are going for the "cure", there is a strong possibility that they will need to remove.
Deb's entire Pancreas, as well as her Spleen. Although there is no indication of metastasis, it appears "The Grinch" is not.
only on the head of the Pancreas, but on the neck as well, making it extremely difficult to simply remove it during surgery.
We are holding out hope that after final chemo treatments, and subsequent rounds of radiation, this prognosis will change.

Words cannot express the gratitude the family shares for all the support shown to Deb. As her husband and best friend for nearly
20 years, I have witnessed firsthand how much Deb has been a beacon of light in so many people's lives.

The road ahead is still long. After her radiation treatments (tentatively scheduled for mid-May) there will be a waiting period of 4 - 6 weeks
before surgery. Friends, you are encouraged to reach out and schedule visits with Deb. Client friends, we like to think of this visit as a "hair appointment."

The coming weeks and months will be crucial. I am convinced your prayers have gotten Deb to this point. But we do need your continued prayers and support more than ever.
The GoFundMe was started against my wishes, but it has turned out to be an extraordinary blessing, and for that I am so grateful everyone who has contributed. This next leg of treatment is an ALL HAND ON DECK for the close family. Each one of us close to Debbie has taken numerous days off work and contributed countless out of pocket expenses just to get to this point. The surgery will be a whole new financial challenge. Each person who has given through the GoFundMe account gets updates emailed directly to them, everyone else has to wait for the press release on FB or word of mouth. Please consider contributing a little cash each week to help with the burden of this sickness.

Mind ~ Body ~ Spirit
✅Heal your mind, talk to someone, see a therapist, do the healing work or it will continue to happen to you.

✅Take care of your body. Feed it healthy options more often than not. Move it intentionally no less than 30 mins each day.

✅how’s your spirit? Are you taking time for yourself without your phone? Meditation, read, walk, watch the birds, talk with your higher power.

Do these things constantly each day and over time you will heal and see change.
YOU are worth it!
