So very true! No just for kiddos feelings but for adults feelings. They aren’t the drivers - but the passengers.

As we move into the school year, remember:

Children need help recognizing and normalizing their feelings, and understanding that feelings can’t always be in charge when making decisions or solving problems. Feelings are a prominent passenger on your bus, but not always the driver of that bus.

Sometimes it’s confusing to know what’s “normal”, the baby blues or a diagnosable perinatal mood and anxiety disorder. This can help!

My heart is heavy having to share this.

Emphasize safety and the love their adults have for them. Make time for this conversation.

We need to do better for our children and our educators.

Please reach out with any questions.

‘It is 100 percent normal to feel conflicted even if you went to hell and back to become a parent.’

Motherhood after PPD is different…

Motherhood after PPD is a sense of grieving over the euphoric newborn days and all that this darkness robbed you of

Motherhood after PPD is feeling guilty for feeling resentment during those months of struggle instead of feeling grateful for the bundle in your arms

Motherhood after PPD is being scared to become a mother again for fear that this time, it’ll be even worse and you’re not sure if you’ll make it through it again…

Motherhood after PPD is always questioning what you could have or should have done differently or better

Motherhood after PPD is feeling angry for being abandoned, blindsided, and invalidated when you needed support the most

Motherhood after PPD is confusing as you constantly second guess whether or not this is “normal” mom stress or the darkness setting back in again

Motherhood after PPD is isolating and you feel like you’re permanently branded as the mom who can’t handle what she “should” be able to

But motherhood after PPD is also a second chance

Motherhood after PPD is also a reminder of how strong you are and how much you overcame

Motherhood after PPD is also feeling gratitude for what you have now and a fierce determination to never lose it

Motherhood after PPD is also looking at other mothers with a tenderness that some will never understand

Motherhood after PPD is not something I ever thought I would experience. But here I am. And here I’ll stay.
