This week is APP week. Advanced Practice Providers-some may know them as Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants. Without a doubt each and every one at Cape Urology advance our mission as well as our lives. This week we want to highlight each of them.

Today we recognize Mollie Blume, FNP. Mollie is our newest member of the APP team. Her nursing experience is in Obstetrics and Dermatology. She joined CGUA earlier this year and is currently training in urology specific care under our physicians and alongside our APPs.

At CGUA, she is Megan’s counterpart seeing patients in the hospital one week and in the clinic for office follow ups the next week. Mollie fills this role for us as an important service to our patients for them to have consistent and quality follow up in the hospital while also connecting them with services in clinic. Her fresh perspective from various hospitals in the Midwest and East Coast are helpful as she fills this role.

In her free time, Mollie loves to spend time with her family and be outdoors. You may find her rucking, completing a hard cardio session or pushing her child in a stroller alongside her husband.

Today we recognize Megan Blattel, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC. With 13 years of nursing experience and 8 years as a Nurse Practitioner, Megan joined CGUA in February 2024. Her most recent role involved providing care to cardiology patients, and we are thrilled that she has chosen to partner with us in caring for our patients.

Megan's unique role allows her to care for hospital patients for one week and then see patients in the clinic the following week, giving her a distinctive perspective. She was the first provider we hired for this role in 2024, and she has excelled in learning the specialty and developing processes with our physicians.

Megan is married and has two children. In her free time, she loves to stay active. She recently completed a 10-day solo hike on the west coast, enjoying the wildlife and breathtaking scenery.

Today we recognize Austin Roubidoux, FNP-C. Austin has been caring for patients with dedication and compassion for many years—4 years as a nurse, 8 years as a nurse practitioner, and the last 2 years serving our patients in urology. He goes above and beyond to make sure every patient feels heard, understood, and cared for. Austin devotes extra time with each patient to explain their plan of care and ensure they leave the office confident and informed.

Outside of work, Austin is a devoted husband and father of two who enjoys golfing, hunting and spending time with his family.

Tuesday we highlight Michelle Welker, AGPCNP-BC. She will celebrate 9 years with CGUA next month. Michelle has taken on our Advanced Prostate Cancer clinic alongside Dr. Outman. She has embraced this role ensuring these patients receive the very best care to help them in their fight. At the office she is known for her beautiful gray sportscar, banana pudding and her tenacity. We all agree, she is one of the toughest individuals we have had the pleasure to encounter.

Karen Abt, FNP-BC, is the first. She has been with CGUA for 9 years. Her nursing background is in hospital inpatient care. She has developed into a compassionate and caring APP who takes wonderful care of her patients. In her free time she is a dedicated wife and mother as well as talented baker. Her Oatmeal Creme Pies and Chocolate Chip Cookies are office favorites!

To extend our mission to more people, our building is under improvement. Please know it may be a little noisy when you come for your next visit. Although a slight inconvenience, we are excited to expand our capabilities to serve more of our loyal patients. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. NOW HIRING FOR IMMEDIATE OPENING: ADVANCED PROSTATE CANCER PATIENT NAVIGATOR
Are you an individual motivated to help people in a unique way and work with a team of advanced healthcare providers to provide cancer care? Cape Girardeau Urology Associates is looking for a dedicated team member to work as an Advanced Prostate Cancer Patient Navigator. This position would help patients navigate their respective circumstances when a diagnosis of advanced prostate cancer is delivered. There are opportunities to continue patient care contact through our clinics and other treatments we offer to patients. Contact us to have a conversation about joining our mission at Cape Girardeau Urology Associates. Our navigators play a tremendous role in our success and have a large amount of autonomy with exceptional provider support.
A professional nursing license is preferred but not necessary based on the individual and related experience.
Remote working options for a portion of time is available with advanced planning.
