When asked what motivates her, Lydia shared that it’s the well-being and happiness of our residents that inspires her every single day! 💫

One of her favorite memories at Life Care? Our staff holiday parties, where she gets to relax, laugh, and enjoy meaningful time with her coworkers, who she considers a big part of why she loves being here. ❤️

Did you know that about 1.1 million people in the United States are living with Parkinson's disease (PD)? 🌷

🧠 This progressive brain disorder is perhaps most well known for causing tremors, but other symptoms include loss of vocal volume, sleep disruptions, stiffness, and balance issues, among others.

Thankfully, there are ways to improve Parkinson's symptoms! 😀 Our therapy team offers rehabilitation services to help improve mobility, range of motion, function, and speech for those living with PD. Call us to see how we can support you or your loved one.

What does Occupational Therapy look like❓

It looks like someone practicing how to button a shirt again. 👔 Rebuilding the strength and dexterity to hold a coffee cup. ☕ Rehearsing the motions to prepare a simple meal and learning to use a reacher to safely pick things up without bending 🫳.

During Occupational Therapy Month, we’re celebrating the amazing therapists who help our rehab patients rebuild confidence, independence, and the skills that make daily life meaningful. 🫶

For nearly 12 years, Sherry has been a shining light in our building. From serving as a Dietary Manager, working in Central Supply, to caring for residents as a CNA, her journey reflects her dedication, compassion, and heart for service. No matter her role, Sherry consistently goes above and beyond to make each day brighter for our residents. 🌟

When asked what Sherry loves most about her job at Life Care, she said, “I love working with the residents and making lasting bonds with them. I strive to make a difference in their lives, just as they have made a difference in mine.”

We want to highlight Courtney Lee, our incredible Travel Director of Nursing! 💛 Courtney has been part of our Life Care family for one year and truly goes above and beyond to make sure each resident feels loved, supported, and cared for every day. 🫂

Courtney loves watching our short-term therapy residents work hard to regain their strength. Being able to witness their progress and celebrate those milestones with them is incredibly rewarding. She also cherishes building relationships with long-term residents and getting to know their stories. Courtney enjoys working alongside the wonderful team here at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau, and of her favorite experiences was serving as Interim Director of Nursing. 🩺

When she’s not at work, Courtney loves spending time with her family. She and her husband also run their own engraving business. With four kids, a grandson, a dog, and their business, life definitely stays busy when she’s home and not traveling for work. Courtney, thank you for being such an important part of our team and for the joy you bring to our building every day! 🙌
