Area Health Education Centers (AHECs) are transforming healthcare in rural and underserved communities through education, training, and real-world experience.

A glimpse of the AHEC impact from 2023-2024:

✅ 685,095 individuals engaged in healthcare training programs

✅ 7,738 current AHEC Scholars (13,409 total since 2019)

✅ 376,322 continuing education participants

✅ 300,947 clinical rotations facilitated

AHECs are helping to build a stronger health system from the ground up.

But this vital program is at risk.
The AHEC program is in danger of losing federal funding.

STUDENT HIGHLIGHT!

Braelyn A. -
I enjoyed the cadaver lab the most. Seeing the inside of all the body systems and learning everything I'm interested in.
Also, learning how to intubate was also really interesting. This was by far the most informative and fascinating school trip.

STUDENT HIGHLIGHT!

Lilli L (Kennett High School) - My favorite part of the trip was the cadaver lab. The medical students were very smart and answered all of my questions. The whole trip was so fun and informational and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

STUDENTS HIGHLIGHT!

Spring JAG Career Day in high school JAG

Our final presenter of the day was Ms. Jesse Polk.
Ms. Jesse shared with the students the qualifications necessary to become a phlebotomist.
She told the students that you can go to college to become a phlebotomist or you can receive on the job training. The highlight for the students was getting to practice drawing blood/starting an IV on a mannequin.
