This one isn’t in the graphic I’ve been going through, but I think it’s important to note.

When someone is pregnant, we are drawn to the question, “when are you due?”

It’s kind of fun to envision the season that baby will be born in or to guess who’s birthday they might be born on. I get it.. But, too often, we put way too much emphasis on this date, forgetting that it is an estimate. An average at best.

Did you know that the average gestation for a first time mom to have her baby is 40 weeks and 5 days? That is the AVERAGE. That means that, as a first time mom, you are MORE likely to go past 40/41 weeks than you are to go early or to even have your babe on their ‘due date’.

Full Circle Philosophy of Care

“A woman is the full circle – within her is the power to create, nurture, transform.” Diane Marieschild

Being pregnant & giving birth are amazing, normal life events for which a woman’s body is well-designed! Respect for the birth process as it unfolds uniquely each time is essential for affirming each woman’s ability to give birth in her own way, and in her own time. We believe that every woman has the right to give birth in a way that is meaningful and satisfying for her, with respect for her/her family’s cultural, philosophical and spiritual beliefs. Birth is a very personal and individual experience, best accompanied by maximum support and information, and minimum intervention.
