“A woman is the full circle – within her is the power to create, nurture, transform.” Diane Marieschild
Being pregnant & giving birth are amazing, normal life events for which a woman’s body is well-designed! Respect for the birth process as it unfolds uniquely each time is essential for affirming each woman’s ability to give birth in her own way, and in her own time. We believe that every woman has the right to give birth in a way that is meaningful and satisfying for her, with respect for her/her family’s cultural, philosophical and spiritual beliefs. Birth is a very personal and individual experience, best accompanied by maximum support and information, and minimum intervention.

Julianne Guy is a Colorado Registered Midwife (RM), and a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). She received her midwifery training while apprenticing with homebirth midwives in Colorado, Washington State & Guatemala, and from a nationally accredited, 3-year academic program at the Seattle Midwifery School. She is certified in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP), Infant, Child & Adult CPR, and is a trained Doula (labor support person). Julianne holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health & Health Education from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
As of December 2019, Julianne has attended nearly 1,000 births during her 19 years of practice and 6 years of training. Her training has included 1,000+ hours of client care in addition to a variety of practical, hands-on experiences. While a student, Julianne worked with home, birth center and hospital-based midwives in Washington & Colorado; in an Amish Birth Center with an Osteopathic OB; and in both Guatemala & the Philippines with home and hospital-based midwives.
Prior to becoming a midwife, Julianne was the Assistant Director of Maternal & Child Health Programs for Project HOPE (an international health organization near Washington D.C.), where she helped train traditional midwives & community health workers around the world to improve access to basic health services for mothers & children. As a Health Educator for Save the Children Foundation, Julianne worked in economically-challenged areas of the U.S. to connect teen mothers with community ‘grandmothers’ to promote healthy parenting role models & skill building.
Julianne’s interest in midwifery began as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala in the 1980’s, where she worked with women & children to improve health and nutrition through home gardening and education. Julianne lives in Carbondale with her family; she provides midwifery services to communities in the Roaring Fork, Vail, North Fork & Grand valleys.
Elise Hull is a student midwife at Mercy In Action College of Midwifery, pursuing her Bachelors in Midwifery. She found her passion for midwifery while serving overseas in East Africa. Elise now lives in the Roaring Fork Valley with her husband and son, and has been apprenticing with Full Circle Midwifery Care since 2018, assisting with prenatals, births, postpartum visits, education and more!
