ALDI has just announced a major update to its ingredient standards, committing to eliminate an additional 44 synthetic ingredients from its private-label food, vitamin and supplement products by December 2027. According to the official announcement from ALDI US, this move will bring their total list of restricted ingredients to 57. The grocer already removed certified synthetic colors and 13 other additives—including MSG and trans fat—from its exclusive brands in 2015.

Key Ingredients Being Removed:

The new list targets several artificial preservatives, sweeteners, and coloring agents. Some of the most notable ingredients being phased out include:

▶️Preservatives: BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole), BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene), and potassium nitrate.

▶️Whitening Agents: Titanium Dioxide, often used in candies and salad dressings.

▶️Flour Additives: Bromated flour and potassium bromate.

▶️Sweeteners: Neotame, acesulfame K, and cyclamates.

▶️Other Additives: Azodicarbonamide (ADA), diacetyl (synthetic), and phthalates.
