When I started Aspen Business Connect, it was out of a desire to get all of the top professionals of our valley in one place so that we could all meet one another in a stimulating, casual setting.

Between 2018-2020 I produced over 10 panel discussions in different venues throughout Aspen giving voice to powerful stories from Cottle Car Yaw Architects, Eleanor Bennett & Janie Joseland-Bennett, Woody Tasch of Slow Money Institute, Brook LeVan of Sustainable Settings, Jerome Osentowski of Central Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute - CRMPI, Eden Vardy of Farm Collaborative Aspen, Michele Cardamone Photography, Sue O'Bryan, Bosq, Rod Stryker, Nicholas Vesey, Neshama Center Aspen, Gina Murdock, Mind Springs Health & West Springs Hospital, Sonja Linman, Aspen Family Connections, Aspen Hope Center.

There is no way I could have possibly known the direction that this outreach would go, and I still have no idea of the incredible things to come. What I do know is that the professionals that my network has been attracting are people at the top of their fields who care about connecting with others. People who remember where their leads and connections come from, and who are always gracious and thankful for that lead. People who believe in the power of giving back, and supporting others.

This culture of community that is growing into the most beautiful ecosystem has truly helped to keep me moving forward in my mission to bring in more professionals of this ilk who surprise me daily with their graciousness.

Last week 15 of us sat in the beautiful dining room of the True Nature Healing Arts Foundation. Led by Executive Succes Coach and business member Dr. Melinda Fouts we peeked behind our business facades to get to know more of our personal selves and then we traveled down to the Kiva for the most incredible 1/2 hour sound bath led by Dr. Zachary Cashin, founder of the Cashin Chiropractic Healing and Wellness Center. Cashin Chiropractic, PC I emerged buzzing with excitement for what is to come, loving the track that I have been following for over 15 years.

… all follow what's called the 'Fibonacci Sequence'.

The design of all Hindu temples follows a geometrical scheme called 'vastu-purusha-mandala'. This is why 72 and 7 repeatedly occur in the wondrous temple complex at Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

Elsewhere the 'Golden Ratio' has influenced artists and architects including Le Corbusier and Salvador Dali.

And in his book 'De architectura, libri decem' – probably written between 30 and 15 BC – Marcus Vitruvius Pollo wrote this:

“For the human body is so designed by nature that the face, from the chin to the top of the forehead and the lowest roots of the hair, is a tenth part of the whole height;
the open hand from the wrist to the tip of the middle finger is just the same;
the head from the chin to the crown is an eighth,
and with the neck and shoulder from the top of the breast to the lowest roots of the hair is a sixth;
from the middle of the breast to the summit of the crown is a fourth.”

“Push yourself to get up before the rest of the world - start with 7am, then 6am, then 5:30am. Go to the nearest hill with a big coat, your favorite blanket and a scarf and watch the sun rise.

Push yourself to fall asleep earlier - start with 11pm, then 10pm, then 9pm. wake up in the morning feeling re-energized and comfortable. Lie in your garden, feel the sunshine on your skin.

Get into the habit of cooking yourself a beautiful breakfast. Fry tomatoes and mushrooms in real butter and garlic, fry an egg, slice up a fresh avocado and sq**rt way too much lemon on it. Sit and eat it and do nothing else.

Stretch. Start by reaching for the sky as hard as you can, then trying to touch your toes. roll your head. Stretch your fingers. Stretch everything.

Buy a water bottle. Push yourself to drink the whole thing in a day, then try drinking it twice.

Buy a beautiful diary and a beautiful black pen. Write down everything you do, including dinner dates, appointments, assignments, coffees, what you need to do that day. No detail is too small.

Strip your bed of your sheets and empty your underwear into the washing machine. wash, then hang them in the sunshine with care. Make your bed in full.

Dig your fingers into the earth, plant a seed. See your success as it grows everyday.

Organize your room. Fold all your clothes (and bag what you don’t want), clean your mirror, your laptop, vacuum the floor. Light your favorite candle.

Breath. Practice your deep breathing. Ground yourself.
Have a luxurious shower with your favorite music playing. Wash your hair, scrub your body, brush your teeth. Lather your whole body in moisturizer, get familiar with the part between your toes, your inner thighs, the back of your neck. Wash the day’s stress away.

Push yourself to go for a walk. Take your headphones, go to the beach and walk. Smile at strangers walking the other way and be surprised how many smile back. Bring your dog and observe the dog’s behavior. Realize you can learn from your dog.

Message old friends with personal jokes. Reminisce. Suggest a catch up soon, even if you don’t follow through. Push yourself to follow through.

Think long and hard about what interests you. crime? s*x? boarding school? long-forgotten romance etiquette? Find a book about it and read it. There is a book about literally everything.

Become the person you would ideally fall in love with. Let cars merge into your lane when driving. Pay double for parking tickets and leave a second one in the machine. Stick your tongue out at babies. Help an animal. Compliment people on their cute clothes. Challenge yourself to not ridicule anyone for a whole day-then two, then a week. Walk with a straight posture. Look people in the eye. Ask people about their story. Talk to acquaintances so they become friends.

Lie in the sunshine. Daydream about the life you would lead if failure wasn’t a thing. Open your eyes.

Take small steps to make it happen for you...”
