A service celebrating her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Shaffer Chapel AME Church in Colp. IL. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church.

Burial will follow in Colp-Dewmaine Cemetery.

Bernice was born on May 1, 1941, to George and Mary Winks in Grenada, Mississippi. She lived a life marked by grace, kindness, and quiet strength. A woman of unwavering faith, she carried a gentle spirit that touched all who knew her.

A Homegoing Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Christ Community Church, located at 473 W. Harrison Road, Murphysboro, Illinois.

Bernice will be lovingly remembered by all who knew and cherished her.
