Come see the area's most stunning autumn foliage at the Mountain's Edge Fall Festival! This year's highlights include a bonfire, co****le tournament and pumpkin carving for the kids. Hamilton - Birds - Starlings

The first starlings seen in Hamilton were noticed in 1924 when three of them were noticed at Hamilton beach.

Not indigenous to North America they had no natural predators and over the next few decades became an enormous problem.

The city's solution to this problem, starting as early as 1927, was to have organized shoots where hundreds of the birds were killed.

This became increasingly popular during the decade of the 1950s but to no avail.

The gunmen could not kill enough to make a dent in the starling population.

Starlings continue to be a problem in Hamilton but shooting is no longer considered a viable solution.
