Today was one of those days that just fills your cup.

A Place at Home - Lafayette had the absolute pleasure of spending time with this amazing Gardening Club Courtyard Retirement & Assisted Living Community and bringing a little hands-on fun with pots to decorate, soil to dig in, and marigolds to plant.

Watching everyone get creative, share laughs, and take pride in their plants was such a joy. These are the moments that remind me how powerful simple activities can be—connection, purpose, and a whole lot of smiles.

Thank you for having me and letting A Place at Home - Lafayette be part of your day. We loved every minute of it!

Our Business Development Director, Lori, had a grand time serving as a judge for the Region III Nursing Home King & Queen Pageant held at the Arnaudville Community Center… and what a beautiful celebration it was! Residents from nursing homes across Opelousas, Arnaudville, Rayne, Abbeville, Ville Platte, and Breaux Bridge came together for an afternoon full of smiles, stories, and sparkle.

Each contestant had the chance to greet the judges and answer interview questions, sharing their personalities, humor, and wisdom… and let’s just say, choosing was no easy task! The audience and contestants honored the outgoing King and Queen for their reign and crowned a new King and Queen to carry on the tradition. There was cake, punch, plenty of laughter, and moments that reminded us exactly why we do what we do, celebrating life at every stage. It was truly a day filled with joy, dignity, and community spirit. A great time was had by all!

We were honored to host our first-ever Acadiana Care Collective networking luncheon right here in our community! This event brought together incredible professionals from the healthcare and veteran sectors, all with a shared passion for serving others. From meaningful conversations to new connections being made across the room, the energy was something you could truly feel.

And let’s talk about the food… because Acadiana doesn’t play when it comes to lunch! Guests enjoyed a delicious spread of jambalaya, salad, rolls, cookies, and mini cheesecakes—the perfect pairing for great conversation and collaboration.

A big thank you to our co-host, Amedisys, for helping make this event such a success. Together, we’re building stronger connections to better serve our seniors, veterans, and families in Acadiana.

The best part? We’re just getting started!

At A Place at Home – Lafayette, we believe strong communities help seniors thrive. Recently, we had the opportunity to connect with two incredible groups doing great work in Acadiana.

We were proud to support South Louisiana Community College (SoLACC) at the Chancellor’s Breakfast, celebrating education, workforce development, and the future of our region. We also enjoyed spending time with one of our local Rotary Clubs in Opelousas, sharing more about the important role professional caregiving plays in helping seniors remain safe, independent, and comfortable at home.

Every conversation is an opportunity to spread awareness about how families can get the support they need so their loved ones can age in place with dignity and care. We love being part of a community that values connection, service, and caring for one another.
