A New Chapter at Carencro Eye Clinic
Carencro-Dr. Evelyn Hanna has sold Carencro Eye Clinic to Dr. Shamekia Nwafor. The new leader of Carencro Eye Clinic will still welcome Dr. Hanna once a week at the clinic to ensure a smooth transition for all patients.
Dr. Shamekia Nwafor is originally from Eunice and is a graduate of Xavier University and the University of Houston. Dr. Nwafor has been practicing in Carencro, Lafayette, and Breaux Bridge for the last fourteen years.
“Carencro Eye Clinic has been a staple in the Acadiana community for over 30 years,” said Dr. Nwafor. “My desire to purchase Carencro Eye Clinic is to carry on that tradition. I love serving my community by providing quality eye care and services with compassion and a purpose.”
Dr. Nwafor hopes to turn Carencro Eye Clinic into a state-of-the-art Optometric clinic. She said, “I hope to continue building on the strong foundation that has already been established, while bringing fresh energy, modern technology, and innovative care to our patients. Purchasing Carencro Eye Clinic is more than a business decision—it’s the fulfillment of a deeply personal dream. As a Louisiana native and optometrist who has dedicated the past 14 years to serving the communities of Carencro, Lafayette, and Breaux Bridge, this opportunity allows me to continue what I love: caring for people, one patient at a time.”
In the future, Dr. Nwafor plans to expand outreach efforts within the community. “Our goal would be to one day increase access to eye care for underserved families, schools, and local organizations. As someone deeply involved in community service, I believe healthcare should uplift not just individuals, but entire communities. I always say I’m blessed to be a blessing. I am the Vision director for an amazing nonprofit, Love Impact Coalition, Inc. We put on free clinics around Louisiana year-round, providing Free Vision, Dental, and medical services to anyone in need. I also love to travel, try new food, and mentoring high school/ college kids.”
In the future, look for Carencro Eye Clinic to host a ribbon-cutting. This way, Dr. Nwafor can meet other business owners in the area. Carencro can rest assured of great quality eye care for many years to come at Carencro Eye Clinic.

Well how about that: Since putting on his glasses, Max Muncy has become a totally different level of hitter. 👓

After nearly 30 games hitting with his specs on, after 28 without them, his batting average is close to 100 points higher, he's striking out half as much and has hit all 9 of his HRs with them on.
