Join us for a webinar on Feb. 12 to explore artistic activism that exposes and confronts ageism and ableism in eldercare.

➡️ Susie Singer Carter, writer and producer of the documentary, “No Country for Old People,” will join moderator Meg LaPorte and panelists Sherry Perry, CNA and board chair of the National Association of Health Care Assistants (NAHCA), and Lori Porter, NAHCA CEO and CareForce Academy co-founder, for a dynamic discussion that looks at age and ability bias in nursing homes and similar long-term care settings.

➡️The panel will discuss the film, released earlier this year on Amazon Prime, and the often inadvertent ageism and ableism that it reveals within the U.S. long-term care system.

➡️Perry and Porter will dig into their own experiences working in this system and how longstanding policies and regulations serve to devalue older people and those who care for them.

Leadership Update

After nearly 15 years of dedicated service, Dane Henning has concluded his tenure with the National Association of Health Care Assistants (NAHCA), four months shy of his 15-year anniversary.

During his time with NAHCA, Dane played a significant role in strengthening the organization’s operations and advancing its mission to elevate Certified Nursing Assistants nationwide. His commitment, leadership, and deep institutional knowledge helped guide NAHCA through periods of growth, challenge, and transformation.

As Dane enters the next chapter of his professional journey with a newly earned graduate degree, we wish him well as he continues to make a difference in the world. While Dane and NAHCA CEO Lori Porter will continue to collaborate on other ventures, his daily presence and partnership in the mission of NAHCA will be greatly missed. Porter says, "He has been my right arm for 15 years and I can never replace the loyalty and dedication he provided".

NAHCA remains firmly committed to its mission and to the CNAs we serve. We are grateful to Dane for his years of service and wish him continued success ahead.
