We are deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Farmers on the Square community member extraordinaire Elizabeth S. Dete . Liz was a pillar of the community and instrumental in building Farmers on the Square's social media presence, promotional programs, and special events like Art on the Farm. Most recently, she and her husband George had been handling the collection and delivery of surplus items from vendors at the end of each market to local food pantry Project SHARE of Carlisle PA.

Liz was also deeply involved in the wider Carlisle community, from her long career as a German teacher at Carlisle High School and sharing her skills with other vital community organizations like Project SHARE, where she helped organize last year's Fare 4 SHARE fundraising event. Her passing will affect more people and groups here than we can imagine, and Liz's energetic dedication has been an inspiration for us all, and her passing leaves a conspicuous void in the Carlisle community.

Our Board Secretary and Liz's friend, Michele Landis, has organized a meal train to support Liz's husband George in this difficult time. You can find this meal train and contribute to it yourself at the link in our bio (it will be the first on the list).
