Cumberland County is seeking public input on the 2025 Land Partnerships Plan, a countywide strategy addressing farmland preservation, natural resource protection and parks, trails, and greenways.

The Land Partnerships Plan helps guide the county in achieving a healthy balance between preservation and development. It outlines key natural, recreational and agricultural assets across the county and recommends strategies to protect and enhance resources for current and future generations. The Plan seeks to encourage action in the community and facilitate partnerships among federal, state, county, and local governments, non‐profit organizations, businesses, and landowners.

Stakeholders are encouraged to review the Plan at www.cumberlandcountypa.gov/5098 and provide written comment by Friday, September 5, 2025.

In conjunction with adoption of the Plan, the County will be relaunching its Land Partnerships Grant Program this fall. Application deadline is anticipated to be December 12! Stay tuned for more information.

The Partnership for Better Health is excited to kick off our 2025-2026 Digital Learning Series with an amazing workshop on Understanding the Value of Lived Experience. This 50-minute workshop aims to:
- Define "lived experience" and its importance in shaping policies, programs, and services.
- Explore the difference between tokenism and meaningful inclusion.
- Identify the benefits of integrating lived experience into organizational decision-making.

Through the Champions for Better Health Awards, we celebrate and honor those that are working tirelessly to improve the lives for so many in our region.

We need your help to share stories of those who go above and beyond, so that we can recognize their efforts!

Nominate your local health champion, whose work and service makes our community a healthy place for everyone to live, learn, work and play. Nominations are due August 29, 2025.

Award recipients will receive up to $200 to donate toward a nonprofit of their choice, public recognition of the award, and a physical plaque.
