So proud of Colleen and everything she is doing for the ALS community!
Colleen Decker, an ALS family caregiver from the San Diego area, recently provided a support statement that was read at a hearing for AB1369 which would provide those living with ALS more equitable access to consult virtually with out-of-state providers who are licensed in another state.
Since Colleen wasn’t able to attend the hearing in person, her statement was read at the California Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee hearing in support of AB 1369, authored by Asm. Bauer-Kahan (CA-16) while Kelly Goss, Managing Director of Advocacy, provided additional testimony in support of the bill.
Thank you, Colleen for being an advocate for ALS. You too can help! Visit https://als.quorum.us/homepage/

With Colleen’s support, The Committee voted 10-1 to advance the bill!
AB 1369 would allow a medical licensing exemption for out-of-state physicians who are licensed in another state to be able to provide virtual care to California patients who are terminally ill. This is vital for ALS families since many people living with ALS have mobility, economic and other challenges that make in-person travel incredibly burdensome, if not impossible. Telehealth care is an effective tool to supplement in-person treatment for those with ALS and many other patients with terminal conditions. The ALS Association is proud to sponsor this bill.
